First off, the game is short as hell. There are only 9 levels, and you could easily play the whole thing through in just under three hours. That being said, I would recommend renting this if you want to kill some time on a rainy day.
The cover system is straight out of Gears of War, and in the first level you have to make good use of it unless you're playing on the easiest difficulty, where you can pretty much run up and KO enemies the whole time. You get a fun Bullet Curving ability after you beat the first boss, which is upgraded as you go through each level. The only drawback is that this ability will run out quickly on the later, more difficult levels, so you'll have to learn to use it sparingly.

The biggest drawback I had was with the knife-wielding enemies that charge at you. When you first see these guys they're fairly easy, as all you have to do is rapidly tap the B" button to finish them off, but in the last two levels you'll come across an Elite version that's almost impossible to defeat in a knife fight (and rest assured these guys pop up quite frequently). I also found the bosses to be a little too easy, since all their fights hinge on you killing enough enemies to use a Bullet Curve or a Bullet Time ability to beat them.
