And suddenly it all begins to fit.Over the past few episodes, the Toadie/Steph relationship has actually begun to seem plausible, as if with the end in sight Carla Bonner has finally realised how she needs to play it.Her scenes with Libby remain one of the best reasons to watch the show as she once more looks her fears in the eye and wonders what to do about them.
No Scullys, no Stonie, but long-term fans are pleased to see Angie and Big Kev back, providing some much needed comic relief in an episode that is in danger of getting a bit serious at times. The moment of Big Kev holding his fingers up when Toadie brings up the subject of how many times they've separated is a top comic moment.
And an honourable mention for Jackie Woodburne, lumbered with the task of playing an increasingly obsessive Susan but managing to mix the right amount of vulnerability in with the stubbornness. The moment where she's left alone and drops the facade is very well done.
