- Revealing mistakes: When the coroner is showing Dave the facial wounds on the dead Amber Martinez, the actress' left eye twitches.
- Continuity: When Dave is pistol whipping Adonis Brown. His facial wounds don't change after the last blow.
- Factual errors: FBI agent Gomez uses a snub nose .38 cal. revolver on duty. The FBI gives agents a limited approved list of pistols to carry on duty and no revolver or any .38 cal. weapon is on it.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The movie star character rents a boat to go out into the Atchafalaya Basin. However, the boat shown is a huge saltwater boat. (A possible explanation is that the purpose of this error is to show the naiveté of the character.)
- Revealing mistakes: At the bus station, when Tommy Lee bashes the guy's head into the public telephone, it is very obvious that his head goes between the phone and the divider instead of hitting anything.
- Revealing mistakes: Tommy Lee picks the lock with one hand and only one tool. In his other hand, he holds a flashlight. This is impossible. You need two tools, one to hold the tumblers and one to turn the mechanism, and most people can only do this when using both hands.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When the Civil War General speaks to Dave and introduces himself he announces his unit affiliation as "Calvary". That is the name of the hill Jesus of Nazareth was crucified on. The name of the horse-mounted military unit is Cavalry.
- Revealing mistakes: When a caller hangs up on Dave's cell phone it is followed by a dial tone. There is no dial tone on a cell phone.
>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<
Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.
- Continuity: SPOILER: When Kelly runs to Dave's house to get his help, there is no one in the car which we have been led to believe belongs to the villain. Of course, by the time the window is shown lowering immediately prior to Kelly being shot, the car has moved, so one could conclude that the villain was either out of the car or had ducked below sight level at that moment.
