Another day, another exciting piece of True Blood casting news.
Within the last 24 hours, Grant Bowler and Marshall Allman were both added to the season three cast, in the roles of an unannounced character and Sam's brother, respectively.
Now, Entertainment Weekly reports that Shannon Lucio - who appeared briefly on Prison Break with Allman - has been cast as Bill’s Compton's human wife, Caroline.
Viewers got a glimpse of her during a season one flashback (when she was played by a different actress that was never officially listed as part of the True Blood cast), as Bill never returned to Caroline after he was turned vampire during the Civil War.
Lucio has guest-starred on Grey's Anatomy and Criminal Minds. She also appeared for multiple episode of The Oc, as Ryan's step-sister Lindsay Gardner, just as that show started to fall apart. »

We've turned into a nation of short-fused brats
As with many over-indulged western lounge sloths today, my eyes are much greedier than my telly. Disgustingly so, particularly now Sky+ has updated the Epg (electronic programming guide), making it speedier and sexier to harvest entire seasons of television. Currently, Curb Your Enthusiasm season seven, E4's Misfits, all of HBO's In Treatment and at least 37 episodes of The Wire are clogging my box, plus hours more of "unmissable viewing". I limped behind BBC2's The Restaurant, until the episode where the couple who resembled Wham! convinced Raymond Blanc that a bistro serving mainly Scotch eggs wasn't lunacy, but then Blanc and co joined the "recorded" pile too.
Luckily, I find the concept of "outdoors" vastly overrated. I envied George the Blue Peter tortoise enormously every time they placed him into his cardboard box and Sellotaped the exit. My other saving grace »

HBO Facebook fairies have twinkled a bit of magic regarding "True Blood" and some casting scoop. Actor Marshall Allman will roll with the Bon Temps regulars in HBO's "True Blood" for the show's third season, as production for the season ramps up this week. Also announced by HBO is a guest star slot for Shannon Lucio, as another period Civil War era ex of Bill Compton. According to HBO, Allman is cast as Tommy Mickens, the younger brother of Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell). This is the second new cast addition to Alan Ball's sexed-up sanguine Louisiana potboiler; previously announced was Mississippi's Vamp King Russell Eddington played by Denis O'Hare. »

Someone old, someone new… HBO is now confirming that True Blood has cast both kinds of characters for season 3. First up: Marshall Allman, best known as Dominic Purcell’s son on Prison Break, has landed the plum part of shapeshifter Sam’s younger sib, Tommy. If you must, go ahead and launch into your own rendition of “He Ain’t Hairy, He’s My Brother.” I’ll wait. Ready? Alright then. Shannon Lucio, who on Prison Break was the Gate receptionist who turned out to be an undercover Fed, has been cast as Bill’s wife, Caroline, to whom he »

More and more actors are called to fill in the new roles of "True Blood" season 3 with the latest getting the call back is Marshall Allman. The actor who was one of the series regulars in the axed "Prison Break" is on board the vampire drama as Sam's younger brother named Tommy Mickens.
In the casting call, Tommy is said to be "dirty but good looking youngster who works at a Tire Depot in Arkansas." He tends to hide his identity because his family has been owing money all over town and he is particularly unaware of who Sam is. This character will be recurring heavily in the season.
Also, the show is still auditioning for the part of Sam's parent. Melinda Mickens, who supposedly is the mother of Tommy, is in her 50s but "dirt-poor, hung-over and trashy-looking". She wears stained clothes and lives in a shanty house styled in early dumpster. »

I'm a tolerant guy. I believe in the mantra "live and let live." I don't judge other people for what they do behind closed doors, provided no one is being hurt, everyone is an adult, and everything is consensual. But I'm taking a stand: I think sex with a dead body is pretty effin' nasty. So why are all these fantasy heroines doing it? Personally, I blame Buffy, that sexed up vampire slayer. The girl had a thang for corpses. Yes, corpses, plural, because she did the deed with not one but two vampires, and all the Buffy the Vampire Layer jokes that can ever be made have already been exhausted. Psychic redneck Sookie Stackhouse from HBO's True Blood didn't just sleep with a vampire -- she inhabits a world where many people, male and female, chase the excitement of sex with the undead, and are given the hilarious moniker "fangbangers. »

Producers Guild of America has unveiled its list of nominees for the 2010 batch. Noticeable from the line-up this year is the fact that cable channels are triumphing over major networks by 70 percent, showing the growth in making good shows for cable channels.
Representing the cables are the likes of "Mad Men", "Weeds", "True Blood" and "Top Chef" that come from AMC, Showtime, HBO and Bravo TV respectively. Meanwhile, representing the national networks are "The Office", "Lost", "60 Minutes" and "American Idol" which are the programs by NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox respectively.
Showtime in particular is dominating the nominations with four counts. In Comedy alone, the cable is having two of its shows, "Weeds" and "Californication". These two will try to battle out reigning champion of the category for two years in a row, NBC's "30 Rock".

Note: Despite the Tiger Woods incident over the weekend, this article has nothing to do with pro golf.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, True Blood has snagged a nomination for producer of the year in the drama category at the Producers Guild Awards of 2010.
Generally ignored by the Emmys, the Showtime vampire show will face Lost, Madmen, Breaking Bad and the network's own Dexter. Given the runaway popularity of all these series, True Blood is up against some stiff competition.

Twilight. The Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter. "True Blood". "The Vampire Diaries." There are so many book series out there looking to attain the level of success that those titles have had transitioning to both the big and the small screens. Warner Brothers is about to start banking on another one -- Beautiful Creatures.
Variety reports that Warner has acquired Beautiful Creatures, the first of a five-novel series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (which drops in book stores tomorrow), with Richard Lagravanese writing and directing the first feature film.
“I love supernatural stories that have well drawn mythologies, and I liked that this book has all the basic elements of a classic first love story with a supernatural layer over it,” Lagravanese tells Variety. “So the first time they hear the words boyfriend and girlfriend, they accidentally overhear each other telepathically. Their first kiss comes after he saves »

As Daniel reports, "Drama nods are led by last year's winner, AMC's 'Mad Men,' while ABC's 'Lost' and 'Dexter' are also repeat nominees. We know the PGA on everyone's minds is the one that Tiger Woods is taking a break from this week, but the other PGA just made a little news, as well. Tina Fey's random-as-ever experiment in one-liner hilarity ("What is it, Kenneth? I'm doing my Kegels"), which has won the PGA's top sitcom honor two years running, will square off against Californication, Weeds, Entourage and The Office. With True Blood starting production on its third season this week, the spoilers are starting to flow as freely as Type O-neg at Fangtasia! The biggie: Casting is now underway for a role that sounds suspiciously like it can only be that of Sam's mother! Debuting in episode 2, middle-aged Melinda Mickens, The Ausiello Files' sources say, is just about the only character in history who lives in more trash than Oscar the Grouch. And since she and equally filthy hubby Joe Lee share the same surname as Tommy, the character this column's already reported is Sam's brother… well, you can do that math, »
