Conan Cameo For Dolph Lundgren?

8 hours ago | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The man responsible for the terror that was Captain Ivan Drago in Rocky IV and the joy that was He-Man in Masters of the Universe revealed to MTV that he’s in talks for an unnamed part in the upcoming Conan reboot.  Lundgren caught MTV New’s attention with this little ditty:

“I’ve talked to the producers about doing something for Conan

As to whether anything was definite, the man went on to say:

“It’s too early”

Regarding a question about when he might know for sure, he responded:

“probably next year”

He-Man need not go on.

Lundgren will also be appearing in the upcoming Sly Stallone-directed mercenary flick, The Expendables, which has the same production team as Conan. He-Man can network.

The new Conan is to be directed by Marcus Nispel (who replaced Brett Ratner) and penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer.  Nispel helmed Friday the 13th »

Dolph vs. Conan? Could Happen.

9 November 2009 10:48 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

While doing the promo rounds for the DVD release of his “Die hard at a concert” movie “Command Performance” (a film that he wrote, directed, stars, and plays drums in — indeed, no stuntmen were harmed in the making of those drum solos), Dolph Lundgren told MTV that he recently met with the producers of the upcoming “Conan” remake. According to Dolph, he’s talked to the producer about joining the Marcus Nispel-directed movie, but it’s way too early and casting is still ongoing. They haven’t even chosen their Conan yet, which apparently they’re going the unknown route on that one. (More on the characters still to be cast here.) Of course, just because the lead is an unknown, that doesn’t mean the villains have to be. Dolph, with his physicality, would be good for any number of roles, including the lead villain Khalar Singh to »

We still don't know who director Marcus Nispel will cast as the titular character in his forthcoming Conan remake, but today comes word that Dolph Lundgren is already in talks for a supporting role.

According to MTV, talks between Lundgren and the Conan filmmakers began while Lundgren was making of Sylvester Stallone's Expendables, as the two projects share the same producers.

"I've talked to the producers about doing something for Conan," Lundgren told MTV.

He added "it's too early" to talk about the details, but expects to learn more next year.

The film's casting call provides a description for one role that Lundgren might fit well; that of Khalar Singh. The notes describe the character as "commanding in size and manner, a warlord and formidable warrior, brilliant, cruel, weathered and tanned by the many campaigns he has waged and won."

Conan Remake Character Breakdowns Reveal Plot Details

29 October 2009 11:41 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Wanna play Conan in Marcus Nispel’s upcoming remake of “Conan the Barbarian”? Well, you should be at least in your 20s to early 30s, Caucasian, powerfully built, broad-shouldered, and with sun browned skin lined with scars. And oh yeah, piercing blue eyes, square-cut black mane, and be taller than average wouldn’t hurt, either. That’s according to a breakdown of all the characters that will be in the movie, which happens to also include plenty of plot details. In short: after bad guy Khalar Singh kills his father (an old comrade of Singh’s) and slaughters his village (with the help of some nasty mecs), Conan, the last of the Cimmerians, vows vengeance. A now-adult Conan eventually teams up with Tamara, a 20-something badass martial arts beauty who is herself in search of Singh, who has absconded with her queen, Ilira. Casting Breakdown For ‘Conan’ Remake

28 October 2009 2:22 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

/Film pointed us to a detailed breakdown for the characters in Marcus Nispel’s reboot of Conan The Barbarian, which is scheduled to begin shooting in Bulgaria in February.  Nispel brought us Friday the 13th (2009) and The Very Best of Cher: The Video Hits Collection.  If he can slip the right character into that “If I Could Turn Back Time” outfit, I’ll go see Conan in the theaters 32 times.  However, dress that outfit on the wrong character and who knows how many cities will burn?

IMDb lists Roland Kickinger as being rumored to play the barbarian.  You might remember him from such films as Terminator Salvation (he played the T-800’s body) and Lethal Weapon 4Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, the gentlemen credited with writing Conan, worked together previously penning the scripts for Sahara and Dead of Night.

Conan Remake Character Descriptions Released

27 October 2009 1:13 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Yesterday we ran a story about the Coen brother's True Grit and remarked that, despite being a remake, the players involved and the creative minds behind the project made the idea more that palatable. Unfortunately, a recently released casting sheet for Conan reminds us that not all remakes have as much thought going into them. Helmed by Marcus Nispel, the genius behind both the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th reboots, the film is scheduled to start filming in Bulgaria early next year, but has not yet cast any actors, though Roland Kickinger's name has been tossed around since June. Looking to fill some slots, Moviehole has gotten their hands on a casting sheet that outlines 21 different roles they are searching for, including the three leads. It's hard to believe that it's come to this, but I feel this film is going to remind us all how much »
