Vintage Videos From The Wrong Turn 2 NY Premiere!

6 October 2008 12:56 PM, PDT | From iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news

In honor of the 5 Frightfest short-films that Joe Lynch and Adam Green put together and posted on-line this past month, we've decided to share with you 2 rarely seen videos. About a year ago, a few days prior to the release of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, Fox had scheduled for 2 theatrical screenings of Wrong Turn 2 on the big screen. One was set for New York, while the other one was set for La. Unfortunately, both screenings were set for the exact same evening, and director Joe Lynch couldn't make it back to his native New York to see the flick with his family. (Long Island, represent!)

The Icons crew had prepared in advance to make something a little special from the screening for Joe. Adam Barnick brought his camera and planned to film audience reactions and thoughts following the screening with Joe's family, friends and fans. Much to our surprise,

Updated: Adam Green & Joe Lynch's Frightfest Short Films Now On-Line!

5 October 2008 4:35 PM, PDT | From iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news

Those fine filmmaking fiends Adam Green and Joe Lynch had something really special planned this year for the audience of the annual UK Frightfest. The duo created 5 short films, all loose parodies of the opening scene of The Twilight Zone: The Movie, to debut each night of the film festival, and from what we've heard... these guys stole the show.

Green, the writer/director of Hatchet and Spiral, and Lynch the director of Wrong Turn 2 both have had successful screenings of their films at the festival, so this was their special treat for the fans.

Now, You, the Us fans can watch them too! (Be sure to refresh the page to see the latest embedded shorts!)

So what were the 100 Best Kills, Anyway?

3 October 2008 2:37 AM, PDT | From FantasticFest.com | See recent FantasticFest news

Right off the bat, I'll tell you: We didn't even get close to 100 kills. But with two straight hours of violent mayhem that was punctuated only by the nostalgically caustic wit of Mr. Zack Carlson, I'd say this was definitely one of the most entertaining events of the whole damn festival. Plus, c'mon, 100 onscreen kills would take about five hours to appreciate -- and really, the Somewhere Between 35 and 40 Best Kills Party just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Listed below are all the clips that played at the first annual "100" Best Kills Geekfest, contributed by Zack Carlson, Lars Nilsen, and a small handful of loyal Alamo lunatics. If you have any suggestions, leave 'em in the comments section below. I'm sure Zack will want a nice gory list for Ff 2009.

Maniac (1980) -- Savini shotgun blast.Psycho 2 (1983) -- Mother shovel head.Goodbye Uncle Tom (1971) -- Something really disgusting.Powder (1995) -- Electric powder sprint.

Although it's not very revealing, the first image from Wrong Turn 3 has surfaced on the IMDb page of lead actress Janet Montgomery. (Who also appears in Dave Parker's The Hills Run Red) The new sequel is currently shooting in Bulgaria under the direction of Declan O'Brien. A follow-up to Joe Lynch's successful Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, the new film supposedly centers on mutie Three-Finger as he takes on a group of prisoners who escape while being transported.

Green and Lynch's Road to FrightFest

10 September 2008 4:54 PM, PDT | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

Anyone who has seen Wrong Turn 2 or Hatchet is very familiar with the names Joe Lynch and Adam Green. Part of what makes these two young filmmakers so credible within the horror genre is that first and foremost they are fans. They live it. They breathe it. They're two of our own. When the two of them get together, good things happen. Good and pretty damned funny!

For this past FrightFest 2008, the duo filmed a series of short films that would run before each night's main film. And now the shorts are making their way online with a new one being released every Monday. All you have to do to see these flicks is head on over to the Ariescope website and hit "play". Higher-res files are on the way, but this should do for now!

Trust me. You so don't wanna miss this! And by the way ... it was so fucking Re-Animator.

There are zombies in the Big Brother house! check out Dead Set

22 August 2008 9:13 AM, PDT | From QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news

Even though details about the new British TV show, Dead Set, are scarce (word around the web is we can expect a big announced at the Film4 FrightFest on Monday), our tireless news hound Avery managed to sniff out some interesting deets from the lads over at Aith. The 6 part Dead Set series is being made by Big Brother producer Endemol UK's independent arm Zeppotron, and will be filmed entirely in the Brig Brother house! It is being described as 24 with zombies, where contestants of the show are unaware - at least initially - that the end of the world is happening just outside their walls..... Two things strike me as being particularly cool about this premise. While this isn't the first time that a reality show has been the backdrop of a horror flick (most recently Wrong Turn 2 used it to pretty good effect), the Big Brother twist

Wrong Turn 3 Plot Details?!

20 July 2008 8:26 AM, PDT | From iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news

Dread Central got an anonymous tip with the supposed plot details to Fox's upcoming Dtv sequel Wrong Turn 3, the follow-up to one of the most successful DVD releases of last year Wrong Turn 2 (directed by Joe Lynch and starring Henry Rollins). Keep in mind this is unconfirmed, but below is the supposed plot synopsis for Wrong Turn 3, which is being helmed by Declan O'Brien. (We figured this would give us a chance to link you to our Joe Lynch interview again, since it's one of our personal favorites!)

From Dread: "Fonda and her friends go to the woods for a couple of days. Her friends are killed by the wild, now staple mutant killer, Three Finger, who of course cannibalizes them. She is left to fend for herself, but not for long. Meanwhile some dangerous prisoners are being transferred by Nate Wilson, a prison warden, on his

Wrong Turn 3 Begins Casting; Director Locked!

1 July 2008 3:08 PM, PDT | From iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news

Considering that last year's Wrong Turn 2: Dead End was the most successful Direct To DVD release for Fox, another sequel was inevitable! Fox is moving forward with Wrong Turn 3 and has just begun the casting process. Declan O'Brien has officially been tapped to direct the 2nd sequel. O'Brien recently directed Cyclops, Genesis Code and Rock Monster. No info on the plot yet but we'll keep you posted as the film develops.

Fantastic Fest '07 Flashback

31 May 2008 7:11 AM, PDT | From FantasticFest.com | See recent FantasticFest news

I asked Tim if I could help out with the Fantastic Fest blog and he demanded to see my qualifications. I told him I've been "blogging" (a word I loathe) for Cinematical (blatant plug) for several years, plus I run my own nerdly little movie blog right here (pathetic plug). He said Yes, I Know You Retard and Thanks For The Help and off we go. My plan is to give the Fantastic Fest Faithful a reason to visit this blog more than, say, once a fortnight (which I think is three months).

So to give you a little taste of my oh-so-thorough "blogging" (ugh) abilities, I'm starting a new tradition right now: Every June 1st we'll scan back through the previous year's Ff titles and see how they're faring on the U.S. distribution front. And by we I mean me.
