Japanese maverick genre director Takashi Miike's contribution to the cable horror anthology turned out to be too extreme even for pay cable -- it was never broadcast and makes its debut here on DVD. Billy Drago stars as an American searching for the geisha he loved and left and Youki Kudoh and Michie co-star in the English language production.

Dario Argento's contribution to the horror anthology series originally made for Showtime adapts a contemporary horror comic by writer Bruce Jones and artist Bernie Wrightson, about a modern-day Lolita with a deformed face, a stunning body, and siren-like powers over men. Steven Weber scripts and stars as the police officer who rescues and adopts the girl, only to find himself in her snare, and Carrie Anne Fleming plays Jenifer.

Don Coscarelli turns to a short story by Joe Lansdale (who also wrote the original story for Coscarelli’s Bubba Ho-Tep) for his contribution to the horror anthology series originally made for Showtime. Bree Turner stars as a seemingly defenseless young woman and John DeSantis is the deformed and demented serial killer known as Moonface in the thriller, which cuts back and forth in time to reveal that our heroine is not as helpless, nor as innocent as she initially seems. Ethan Embry and Angus Scrimm (the "Tall Man" from Coscarelli's Phantasm films) co-star.

The horror anthology gets a transfusion of old blood in the Masters of Horror series originally made for Showtime: veteran directors of the genre are given creative freedom to choose their own projects and their own styles. Stuart Gordon’s Dreams in the Witch House, an H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, is the story of a college grad student (Ezra Godden, from Gordon's Dagon) who finds a pathway to a world of magic and demonic evil, an inspired marriage of Lovecraft's multi-dimensional horror and string theory's multi-dimensional hypothesis.

Joe Dante's episode of Showtime's Masters of Horror series is a politically barbed twist on "The Monkey's Paw." The corpses of the recent war dead (from an unnamed but unmistakable Middle East campaign) rise up as the incumbent president runs for re-election on his war record and his handlers try to spin the fallout in hysterical media appearances.
