Best documentary ever, 1 March 2006

The Divine Michelangelo is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. First of all, I was deeply attracted by the grandiose architecture of the Middle Ages shown in the movie; second, I was really impressed by the three incredible and beautiful masterpieces accomplished by Michelangelo: David, paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, and St Peter's dome; third, I totally sympathized at all the hardships Michelangelo underwent during his strive for the eternal fame and fortune as an outsider; last but not least, I really appreciate the persistence Michelangelo possessed throughout his life as a genius of art. Besides, the acting is super. Those soliloquies of Michelangelo's reveal very well his inner world: how bold he was to fight with his own demon, how confident he was to stick to his own belief and how determined he was to quest for perfection on his way to be an unprecedented sculptor, painter and architect. All in all, the movie is both spectacular and instructive.

This movie combines both authenticity and artistry. It tells Michelangelo's life truly from his childhood to his dead along with his fabulous creations .

No doubt that Michelangelo had a gift which ushering in a great and different life of him .When 25 years old ,he finished his first famous work ,the pi eta . And the following year he began work on the 17 foot tall marble statue of the biblical hero, David,which combining human strength and uncertainty,become a symbol of the power and determination of Republican Fllorence .The celling of the Sistine chapel and the dome of st peter's are the other two masterpieces.For centuries people couldn't believe they were created b a mortal,but it's truth. He was a mortal,a mortal with complex character .

A traumatic childhood ,which ,I think ,affected his character to some degree.Bad-tempered,paranoid,fearsome but also affectionate,ambitious and having enough courage and willpower to do what he want to ,this is him ,the divine Michelangelo .He lived poorly and had poor personal hygiene,he worked for powerful men and spun the myth that he has aristocratic roots ,he spent four years to complete the celling of Sistine chapel,which was a massive struggle that stretched him physically,emotionally and technically.

In a word , his passion for art ,for beauty and for God was his driving force throughout his life ,making him a giant .

"The Divine Michelangelo" reproduced the extraordinary life of Divine Michelangelo and I acquired more about the master in sculpture through the movie,meanwhile ,some thoughts came out.

I was deeply impressed with Michelangelo's bad temper.It seemed that getting on well with others was so difficult for Michelangelo.In the eyes of many people,this shortcoming obviously prevented him from communicating with other artists in the same time such as Raphael,a prominent painter who shared the equal prestige with Michelangelo and as a result held back his progress in artist.But as I see ,it's just the so-called shortcoming which helped Michelangelo rise to the heady heights of artist and create breathtaking beauty.He was immersed in the artistic heaven and had no time talking with others.In his restroom,there was nothing but a bed ,not even a chair to treat a friend coming to visit him.Yes,no chair,no friend and so ,no time wasted.He spend the time which was supposed to tackle the relationship properly with others on his wife ,sculpture,which was too much for him,as he said.

These words are merely my feelings,one's outlook and subject to change with tomorrow's setting sun,and I too continue to find Michelangelo's valuable features from which we can learn a lot.

I've never thought a documentary could be so wonderful before I saw "The Divine Michelangelo".In this two-part series,it's combined with dramatic reconstructions of Michelangelo's life based on his actual words.

During this movie,graphic Michelangelo comes to me.He's not only a spiritual being but a complex character.At times bad-tempered,paranoid and eager to get money,at other generous and affectionate.

The movie shows his passion for art,for beauty and for the God.A sculpture may took him several years to choose the right material and another several years to create the masterpiece.He wrote"I already have a wife who is too much for me;she is my art,and my works are my children"in a poem.

Pride is another distinct characteristics of himself.He told his biographer that what Raphael knew of art was learned from him.And his wry nose which makes he feel self-abased for life was beaten by his fellow because of his provocation.

He always claimed he was divinely inspired.He thought nature was his starting-block which means the edification from the God.Anyway,his incredible feat is worth the word----perfection.

If you are a fan of Michelangelo or a fan of his art or creations, you should not miss this documentary made by British Broadcast Company (BBC), 2004, "The Divine Michelangelo."

No one is prefect in the world and neither was the best artist who created prefect art. You can learn about Michelangelo as a real person in this documentary. He was a competitive fighter, which got disfigured with a broken nose. He acquired wealth, but still lived a common life like Jesus, as he said himself. By watching this documentary, I learned the beauty of a man's body for the first time. How could he sculpture these beautiful man's bodies? Why was he the only artist who could do this, not Dan Vinci or Raphael? You can find the answers in this documentary. To me, I was surprised to learn his sexual orientation is towards men.

The "Divine Michelangelo" tells about the omni-directional Michelangelo. It also gives the audience an opportunity to watch the beauty of the art of Michelangelo in their own home. Do not miss it, especially if you are interested in art! It is worth your attention!

When watching the movie,I was really shocked.It provided us many great scenes as well as some great actors' great performances.I LKE THE MOVIE VERY MUCH!The movie was so lifelikeness that I can even feel that I am just like the people living in Michelangelo's year. Michelangelo is a gifted people that only he left us 3 more masterpieces. I am so admire him that I even feel he is the god's son.He pursues "perfect things" in all his life and even during the most difficult time he can finish his works.I think this spirit just fit his figure----the god's son.I like his way of working----putting whole heart in his interest.I think although his character is not as good as his gift in art,but that's for nothing,the following generations remember him most by his gift,which can be seen from the masterpieces he left to us!!
