Trivia:
The university Cal Sci is modeled on the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, developing characters loosely based on a Caltech professor and students. Portions of the series have been filmed on the Caltech campus. Gary Lorden, the chairman of the math department at Caltech, consults for the show. The pilot episode was screened at Caltech as well, receiving a standing ovation at the end. moreQuotes:
[Charlie and Alan are golfing and Charlie tries to hit the ball, but misses]Alan Eppes: That was better.
Charlie Eppes: What?
Alan Eppes: It was! You almost hit the ball.
Charlie Eppes: You know, I'm the king at basketball, I-I-I can snowboard, I'm the best at video games, I'm even getting over my fear of rock climbing. But I still, I can't hit this little white ball.

One person's comments on this show was that it was too Jewish. I'm a black woman and I think that comment comes from a truly ignorant place. The actors characters being Jewish doesn't come into view unless you're looking for it. When I watched the show, I wasn't thinking, "Hey, these people are Jewish!" I was thinking, "Hey, I hope this show is good." I am so sick and tired of people focusing on race and religion. Get over it and just enjoy the freaking show because it's really good. Btw, it's good to see Rob Morrow back on TV. I was superpleased to see Peter MacNicol. I love the dark style of the show and I think the music is awesome. I've never been good at math, well at least the probability aspect that they deal with on the show, so it's pretty awesome to watch this show and it's also great to watch the story unfold.
