Trivia:
Indie film maker Paul Chart ('American Perfekt') was originally signed to write and direct the picture and penned the original script. Chart left the project, however, after a decision was made to shoot the film in 3-D, uncomfortable with the possibility it would become more 'theme park ride' than the epic action-adventure film he envisioned. The Jules Verne novel was apparently one of his favorite pieces of literature. Chart was ultimately replaced with effects specialist Eric Brevig and the script was heavily retooled to emphasize the new 3-D format. moreGoofs:
Continuity: Over the course of the movie, the main characters leave their backpacks behind only to have them suddenly reappear in the next scene. For example, when they get to the bottom of the tunnel after the mine, they drop their bags and walk through an opening without them. Several minutes later they are seen walking with them. moreQuotes:
[from trailer]Trevor: [in complete awe] Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the center of the Earth.

It is "Rick O'Connell Goes Deep Underground", since Brendan Fraser is, well, Brendan Fraser. The kid (from RV) is really pretty good. My 8 yr old and his friend loved it. Even my 19 yr old daughter enjoyed it.
The 3D made me remember my fear of heights...after the theater remembered to use the special screen and restarted the movie, 10 minutes into it!
Don't expect more than a cool kids'movie and it is well worth the money. The plot gives you many opportunities to suspend disbelief. You'll also see several prototype amusement park rides!
But if you see it, you MUST see the 3D version. That much is awesome.
