This is the first of the shorts on the Animatrix DVD, and probably the best. It takes place before the beginning of Reloaded, and very shortly before the beginning of Enter the Matrix. It details the fate of a hovercraft named Osiris. The plot is pretty good, and somewhat important to Reloaded(though you can easily enjoy Reloaded without having ever seen this). The acting is good, all of the voice actors do pretty good jobs. The characters were well-written, and somewhat well-developed, for such a short piece(it's about 9 minutes long). The action is great, from the very first frame to the very last, there's constantly something going on; it's like watching a cut scene from one of the Matrix films. The CGI animation is excellent, some of the most believable I've ever seen, and really manages to convey the animated characters as human beings. The visuals and sound effects, as well as the music, were great. The whole story ties directly in with the story of Reloaded and Enter the Matrix, so it's good to watch if you've just seen the movie, beaten the game, or are planning to do one of the two in the near future. Not much else to say; all in all, this is a great little short film with plenty of action and great CGI. I recommend it to any fan of the entire Matrix phenomenon. 8/10
