Ghost Hunters to investigate East Coast Fango con

23 December 2008 10:10 AM, PST | From Fangoria.com | See recent Fangoria news

Paranormal investigators/hosts Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes (pictured) of the hit Sci Fi Channel series Ghost Hunters have joined the lineup of the next East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors. The event will be held June 5-7, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets) in New York City.

Since debuting in 2004, Ghost Hunters remains one of cable’s hottest shows. In season four, an average of 2.8 million viewers tuned in each week to catch the latest cases from the files of Taps (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), led by Rhode Island plumbers Hawes and Wilson. Hot on the heels of Ghost Hunters wrapping its most successful season to date, Sci Fi has renewed the reality show for a sixth season; season five will premiere in March.

Afm: The 2008 Round-up!

12 November 2008 3:40 PM, PST | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

**Please Note: This will be at the top for a while; be sure to scroll down for updated news stories!** Horror may currently be in a slump, but the 2008 American Film Market has shown a huge light at the end of the tunnel. This year showcased a record number of horror titles and Dread Central was on hand to catch a great deal of them. Some were good, some were bad but all showed that this genre still has plenty of lifeblood left. Many exhibitors were also kind enough to show us movie promos, while others coldly showed us the door (Lesbian Vampire Killers, I’m looking at you). The most promising show previews were easily Night of the Demons and Clive Barker’s Dread, with plenty of new projects being announced. Check out our full Afm '08 coverage here.

So without further ado, we present you with our yearly

The Scary Bits: Everything's 3-D!

11 November 2008 3:19 PM, PST | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Most horror geeks know Brian Yuzna as a frequent Stuart Gordon collaborator who helped to bring us Re-Animator, From Beyond, and the underrated Dolls. Younger gene freaks would also know Mr. Y from his numerous Filmax productions, which include Dagon, Rottweiler, and (of course) Beyond Re-Animator. But now, according to Big V, Brian is about to deliver a trio of 3-D horror flicks. The first will be a giant monster movie called Amphibious, the second will be Brett Leonard's Necronauts, and the third will be Richard Stanley's Cold Blooded. Now, I call this news all sorts of interesting because A) Stanley doesn't direct many films, B) Leonard has never directed a good film, and C) they're all 3-D horror movies! With monsters!

Questions: Does Danny Boyle want to direct 28 Months Later? Maybe. Will next year's Friday the 13th Part 3 DVD come in 3-D? Sure looks like it. Want

Brian Yuzna To Produce 3D Feature Trio!

10 November 2008 1:21 PM, PST | From Latemag.com/film | See recent LateFilmFull news

Oh my! There's film news and there's super-good film news, and this little tidbit certainly falls into the latter. Has anyone ever told you I love 3D movies (yeah, you, every time you see me)? Ok, I probably did tell ya before, but 3D movies are one of my most favouritest things for giving a bit of kiddified magic into the piss and shit world of adulthood. Well, a less well-known fact could be that I also really rather adore Brian Yuzna for having a hand in some of my fave horrors (Society, Re-Animator, The Dentist, Necronomicon, Dagon,) ergo, with all the remake/sequel news to boot, this unique piece really excites me.

This trio of goodness, the first of which will be giant sea scorpion-based Amphibious (!), is to be Indonesia-made in conjunction with distributor Queen Imperial Films. The second 3D feature output from this shingle will be Necronauts, a

Re-Animator Producer Preps Three 3-D Horror Films

9 November 2008 11:14 AM, PST | From bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news

Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator, Dagon) will produce a trio of 3-D horror movies to be made in Indonesia. The slate is the one of the first initiatives from Komodo Film, a new Jakarta-based production shingle owned by Yuzna, former A Film topper San Fu Maltha ("Black Book") and Indonesian distributor Queen Imperial Films. New company is partnered with the Media Development Authority of Singapore. First up on the 3-D roster is "Amphibious," a thriller about a giant sea scorpion that Yuzna will direct from a script he penned with John Penney. Pic will be co-produced by Infinite Frameworks of Singapore. Shooting is slated to begin in March on Batam Island.
