NBC has decided to pull the plug on The Michael Richards Show, saying Thursday that it will not order additional episodes of the low-rated series. Its final episode is due to air on Jan. 2. (It is the fourth freshman show that the network has canceled recently, after Titans, Deadline and Tucker.) The network said that it plans to revamp its Tuesday-night lineup the following week, juggling the time periods for several existing shows and moving a new family sitcom -- Three Sisters starring Vicki Lewis -- into the 9:30 p.m. half-hour. At the same time, ABC said that it will also revamp its Tuesday schedule, moving the Tuesday edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire to Friday nights at 8:00 p.m. beginning January 5 and filling the vacated 8:00 p.m. hour with its new reality series The Mole hosted by former ABC newsman Anderson Cooper, starting Jan. 9. The Millionaire move to Friday nights probably signals the demise of the new The Trouble With Normal and Madigan Men. In yet another mid-season change, Fox has canceled The $treet, created by Darren Star (Sex and the City, Melrose Place).

NBC's new Deadline is the network's latest Monday night offering to bite the dust. The Dick Wolf-produced drama was canceled Tuesday after four episodes that averaged only a 7.3/11. Last week, the network canceled two other Monday-night offerings, Tucker and Daddio, replacing them with an additional episode of Dateline. The network plans to air a repeat of Wolf's Law & Order in the Deadline time slot next week.
