One of greatest 'metal-hero' series, 10 March 2006

Author: Sidnei_Novais from São Paulo, Brasil

Kyojû Tokusô Juspion (1985-1986 - 46 episodes) was one of greatest series of 'Metal Hero' genre ever made. Produced just after the successful "Uchû Keiji" trilogy (Gavan, Sharivan and Shaider), Juspion brought elements of this early series, with more modernity and dynamism.

Juspion (Hikaru Kurosaki) was created by Ejin (Noboru Nakatani), after a fall with a spaceship that killed his parents several years ago. Living in harmony with wild beasts at the same time where he received fight techniques, Juspion was convoked by Ejin in ownership of the Galactic Bible that foresaw that a warrior would have to face the malignant being of the galaxy, the SatanGhost, an entity capable to control giant monsters.

Thus, Juspion will pass for some planets with the Android 'Anri' (Kiyomi Tsukada) and 'Miya' (an alien helped by Juspion in first episode) until they arrives at the Earth, where Satanghost and his son MadGalant had established and intends to create the Beast Empire.

In the initial episodes, the trams were mixed with the infantile mood of the main character, but in elapsing of the series, this mood was giving place to a more serious attitude, while the stories became more darkest.

In this series the famous actor Hiroshi Watari (Sharivan) makes 'Boomerman', who helps the hero in his battles for several episodes until one accident in real life compels him to leave the series prematurely, giving place to the Nanbara family (Mr. Nanbara interpreted by famous singer Isao Sasaki).

Juspion was shown in Japan in the year of 1985 along with sentai series 'Changeman'. In Brazil, both also divided the programming in 1988 and made enormous success. I recommend! 4 1/2 of 5.
