Factual errors: On the boat while listening to the tape, Licht tells Smilla that there is an EEG monitoring someone's heart. EEGs measure brain waves; EKGs (also called ECGs) measure heart rate and electrical activity.
Continuity: When Capt. Lukas is first seen in the casino, he has black hair (head, eyebrows, mustache) with just a little gray in the temples. The next day on this ship, all of his hair is gray.
Factual errors: When Smilla's father is showing her the X-rays of the worms in the heart, he points out "what remains of the liver, lower oesophagus...this is the heart...what's left of it". He is actually pointing to an upside-down X-ray of the upper abdomen and the "heart" is actually just bowel gas in the intestine.
