Fun Stuff

Trivia:
In addition to the numerous real life major league players who make cameos in the film, the Twins shortstop, Pat Corning, is also played by a real major league player, Kevin Elster. Elster played for the Mets (1986-1992), Yankees (1994-1995), Phillies (1995), Rangers (1996 and 1998), Pirates(1997), and the Dodgers (2000). Statistically, his best season came in 1996 with the Rangers when he batted .252 with 24 HRs and 99 RBIs. more
Goofs:
Factual errors: When the twins are playing at Fenway Park, they are in the first base dugout, which can be seen when the camera is facing Billy and you can see Pesky Pole in the background. The Red Sox's home dugout is actually on the first base side, and the visitors' is on the third base side more
Quotes:
George O'Farrell: Hey 'Blackout,' I didn't get you for your curve ball. I don't like your curve ball. As a matter of fact, I hate your curve. You know why? Because the damn thing don't curve! more

Very underrated. One of the best of the 90's baseball movies, 27 May 2002

I remember that I didn't want to see this movie at the theater (or as a rental for that matter) because of the marketing of the movie and what I thought would be a dumb story. However, I was pleasantly surprised. For what it was worth, it was a pretty good movie. Yeah, the story-line was not believable and it was cheesy at times, but the basis behind the story was pretty solid, it had some pretty good lines, and it was pretty entertaining the whole way through. Word of warning, though - Don't let Randy Johnson scare you. That guy had to have fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every single branch on the way down, THEN bounced and hit every single branch on the way up. Plus he's called the 'Big Unit'; scary! 6.5 out of 10.
