Peter W. Simeon <simeon@imdb.com> In most categories this laserdisc gets high ratings, but it has one major problem: Aliasing. There is way too much aliasing in this transfer. Because "House of the Spirits" is a 2.35 : 1 movie, this is very noticable. When watched through a Faroudja line multiplier sometimes parts of the image flickers. This is very strange and it almost like the effects when the Faroudja switches between video and film mode. However, the 3:2 pulldown was done correctly, so I guess this is an effects which was introduced during the film-to-video transfer. Altough the aliasing reduces the resolution a bit, this laserdisc is still reasonably sharp. Contrast and color are very good, as is the Dolby Surround soundtrack.
