A screenwriter has signed for the impossible task of bringing TV’s “American Gladiators” to the big screen.
Peter Iliff (Varsity Blues, Point Break) believes he’s man enough to take on the adaptation. “Gladiators” creator Johnny Ferraro is producing with the help of Scott Mednick (who is also reviving the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).
Variety reports the story will center on the Gladiators as superheroes, which is news to me because I was certain Nitro was some sort of modern-day Hercules. Now I find out he’s just a muscle-bound actor and my memories are tarnished. This is just like last year when I found out Michelle from “Full House” somehow grew into twin skeletons. Next you’re going to tell me reality television is staged.
When the project was originally announced in May 2009, Ferraro saw it as a “compelling story” that would introduce a new set of characters. »

Improv Act: Kelly Osbourne was pretty in pink Monday night as she sashayed on the dance floor for her first performance of the night. But things weren't as they appeared. "In case you didn't know, my 20-second solo was completely made up," she says of her rumba. "I got out there and froze." Her partner Louis van Amstel had complete faith in her as he watched on. "I was standing behind her and thinking, 'Keep your cool. Keep your cool,'" he tells People. The judges didn't detect her new routine -- the couple scored all 8s. Making an Impression: »

We live for press releases like this one: A&E has greenlit a seven-episode series tentatively titled Bob Saget's Strange Days, "which busts down barriers to investigate some of America's most fascinating and mysterious worlds. Documenting his journey around America, Saget immerses himself in different unusual cultures from the world of mail-order brides to joining a survivalist cult prepping for the end of the world to rushing a fraternity." He'll also be on "the back of a Harley with a biker gang" and "living with a group of partying Amish teenagers before they decide on whether or not they »

· Everybody's favorite Full House father is pulling himself out of the How I Met Your Mother sound booth to shoot seven episodes of an upcoming reality show for A&E called Bob Saget's Strange Days. The hour-long episodes will chronicle the comedian's travels into far-flung pockets of America, where he will try to entertain biker gang members, Amish teens and mail order brides. Let's hope that he doesn't revisit his Ron Jeremy and Full House set list. [Variety]

Veteran's Day brought no shortage of veteran appreciation today in Twitter-Wood, prompting thanks and memories from across the board, as well as a personal note from "Twilight" actor Gil Birmingham.
Meanwhile, Jason Schwartzman's on his way to the NYC debut of "Fantastic Mr. Fox," which as a Wes Anderson follower, I am anxious to see myself this weekend. Another new release, "Precious," really got a hold of Tyrese Gibson, who said the film's been keeping him awake. Check out their thoughts along with pictures from Peter Facinelli and John Stamos and a Henry Winkler autograph to be jealous of after the jump. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 11, 2009.

Everybody spent this episode of 90210 dealing with that old dramatic standby, parental baggage. The problem? They've never quite managed to integrate the adults into the action as seamlessly as some other teen dramas do (and even Gossip Girl struggles sometimes) -- this week's made some strides with some parental story lines but got a little snoozy with others. It was, unfortunately, a case of the latter when it came to Dixon and Deb Wilson. I've loved that the fake-pregnancy story line has brought Mama Wilson back into the fold, but I'm just not invested enough in the mom/son relationship »

Jodie Sweetin played the adorable, wisecracking Stephanie Tanner on the '80s sitcom Full House, but the former child star's real life has been considerably more dramatic. Sweetin stopped by TVGuide.com's studios to explain life as a "blackout drinker," how she got into meth, why her baby helped her turn things around and how her tell-all book — UnSweetined — helped her on the road to recovery.

It was a mini Full House reunion last night at the Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine benefit in NYC, which was held to honor the Scleroderma Research Foundation. Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen posed alongside their on-screen dad Bob Saget, who also brought his own daughters Lara and Aubrey. John Stamos was there as well, and he later entertained the crowd with Bob and SNL's Seth Meyers. The Olsens took a break from promoting Olsenboye long enough to support the cause close to Bob's heart, though their latest line is apparently already on clearance. When "Twilight" cast members began tweeting about subjects involving missing clothing, I definitely did not expect to log on to Twitter today and find out that Christian Serratos decided to outdo all of them, but but her new garment-less PETA ad definitely succeeded.
Dane Cook and Ice-t, meanwhile, were less focused on saving fur and more intent on playing "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" this weekend, according to their posts, and at least one of them found himself in possession of some nightvision goggles. Check all of that out after the jump along with Danny Masterson's criticism for Andre Agassi, "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich's favorite childhood toy and much more. I'm @brianwarmoth and this is the Twitter-Wood report for November 9, 2009.

Bob Saget is probably the only man alive who could pull off a fundraiser for a debilitating disease one night, and sing a tune like "My dog licked my balls" the next. In both capacities, he kills. It's all part of who the comedian is: a wonderful walking contradiction. Saget's arguably best known to family audiences as fun-loving dad Danny Tanner on "Full House" and as the good-natured host on "America's Funniest Home Videos," but everyone knows by now that away from family-friendly TV and nut shots, he's one of the dirtiest comedians ever. On Monday, Nov. 9, the comedian will continue his split-personality street cred by dropping F-bombs and drawing laughter for a cause that hits close to home. That evening, he will host the Schleroderma Research Foundation's "Cool Comedy -- Hot Cuisine" Fundraising Gala at Carolines on... »

The Twitter-Wood feed started following its first canine today, as recent hacking victim and "Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland tweeted a pic referencing her dog "Genevieve Ferland." According to @gena_fur's Twitter account, Genevieve recently turned five, hates nail clippers and dressed as a princess last year for Halloween.
Lack of clothing was on the minds of two other "Twilight" series actors, though, as Tinsel Korey seems to have not yet found a dress for the "New Moon" premiere, and Charlie Bewley reported on his love of not wearing anything. Remarkably, I made none of this up. Check it out, along with an award Arnold Schwarzenegger recently presented to Kirk Douglas, a scandalous "Full House" photo and the reason "Iron Man 2" will show up to theaters late if it gets delayed. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 6, 2009.

Today Jodie Sweetin (formerly the middle daughter, Stephanie, on Full House) released her autobiography, unSweetined, detailing her early acting years and her subsequent drug and alcohol addiction. Only 27 years old, Jodie has lived through a lot of hard times.
Once Danny Tanner's bubbly daughter on America's favorite family sitcom, Jodie Sweetin takes readers behind the scenes of Full House and shares her terrifying — and uplifting — real-life story of addiction and recovery.
Jodie Sweetin grew up in front of America, melting our hearts and making us laugh for eight years as the cherub-faced middle child on Full House. Her ups and downs seemed not so different from our own, but more than a decade after the popular television show ended, the star we knew as goody-two-shoes Stephanie Tanner publicly revealed her shocking recovery from methamphetamine addiction. Even then, Jodie still kept a painful secret — one that could not be solved in thirty minutes with a hug, »

Jurnee's filmography is as long as her arm, if not longer! She has worked on films like Eve's Bayou (1997) , Selma, Lord Selma(1999), The Great Debators (2007) and her television appearances include a stint on the hit Us drama Grey's Anatomy, Hanging with Mr Cooper (1992), Full House (1992-1994), ER (2002) ...the list goes on. Her older co-stars have always helped her with her confidence from a young age, and reminded her to believe in herself and her ability. She has a little village of fans, one being her mother, and the others that help validate her as an actor. She grew up watching Claudine (1974) and she had the opportunity to work with Diahann Carroll, who she looked up to. She hopes one day that she can be a role model for young aspiring actors, she told t5m. »

Halloween tweets were way more interesting this morning since everyone was posting actual photos instead of just being indecisive about what to wear. "Twilight" star Billy Burke took the crown for most authentic, though, with his Sid Vicious outfit. He pretty much nailed the Sex Pistols' late bassist.
"Toy Story 3" director, Lee Unkrich, meanwhile retweeted a few incoming photos he received of well crafted character costumes. Gwen Stefani stood out from the pack in that batch, doing Woody's gal pal Jessie from "Toy Story 2." Then there was Fred Durst, who appears to have put a leg up on December, posting a shot of the Christmas tree he just set up in his living room. Check out all of those, as well as reactions from the World Series, Rob Zombie and John Stamos. They're all waiting after the jump in the Twitter-Wood report for November 2, 2009.

Former "Full House" child star Jodie Sweetin has an autobiography, "Unsweetined: A Memoir," coming out chronicling her battle with drugs and alcohol, her two marriages and her baby daughter. "Everybody has to go through things like this; some of us have to do it more publicly," Sweetin told Matt Lauer. "But I'm just really fortunate that I get to be honest and live my life the way I want to now." Sweetin first started drinking alcohol at co-star Candace Cameron's wedding in 1996 and Her alcohol abuse spiraled into drug use. In addition to snorting meth at the Olsen twins movie premiere of "New York Minute" in 2004, she said she always traveled through airports with drugs on her. When she was 20, she married a cop with the Lapd, but her drug use only got worse. "At the time I started doing... »

In an explosive new memoir, actress Jodie Sweetin opens up about her past drug abuse and how those addictions put not only her own life in jeopardy, but also the life of her 18-month-old-old daughter Zoie Laurelmae.
The 27-year-old former Full House star — who was adopted as a 9-month-old — points out in unSweetined that her birth mother was also an addict. “I would hear stories about my mom leaving me to go off and party,” she writes. “And for years I was like, ‘F–k her. How could somebody do that to their kid’?”
