Parents Guide for
Vacation (1983) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A few scenes contain topless female nudity (played for laughs mostly).

A scene with Clark's wife in the shower shows her breasts almost entirely.

One scene contains masturbation references.

A married couple has sex in a few scenes (one in which they're both half naked; the man pops out of the sleeping bag with the woman's bra in his hand).

A married man skinny dips with another woman in a motel pool (the woman strips down entirely to tease the man, but no nudity is seen on-camera; the man strips down to his underwear and his bare chest is seen; he is caught by his wife moments later).

A man seems to be cheating on his wife by staring at and flirting with another woman and in one scene, he goes skinny dipping with her.

Suggestive reference to french kissing

Two teenage boys look at magazines advertising nude women; they have a suggestive conversation about it.

Violence & Gore

Clark holds a BB gun he bought up to a guy and ends up shooting him in the butt with it (he lives; this is played for laughs).

Clark fakes that he's been shot (it looks very realistic when the man pulls the gun at him).

Profanity

9 "F"-Words as well as some minor and heavy language.

Audrey momentarily on-screen smokes marijuana she got from Vicki.

Several car crashes involving the the main characters in their station wagon (it's meant for comical laughs), but surprisingly, no one is hurt.
