"Highway Patrol" (1955): Season 1: Episode 21 -- Dan Mathews receives a phone call from an employee of a wrecking yard.

Trivia:
The series' opening credits originally expressed appreciation to Bernard R. Caldwell (the head of the California Highway Patrol during the mid-1950s) for technical advice and assistance, much of which was provided on-site by CHP Officer Frank Runyon. After the initial seasons, Mr. Runyon continued to serve as a technical advisor but the CHP reduced its official support for the program. The opening expression of gratitude thus became more "generic". It read: "This program is dedicated to the Highway Patrols throughout the nation and their contribution to the safeguarding of public welfare. We are deeply grateful for the technical advice and assistance which made the authentic production of this program possible." more

Most Excellent TV show., 15 October 2000

The music. Do you remember the starting theme? It defined action, and a warning. Too bad the series isn't run more often. Very hard to find anywhere. It used to be on a local private station KOFY-TV 20 out of San Francisco, but our local service provider didn't want to use channel 20 anymore, so we lost out. I remember watching the series as a child in Seattle, and never missed a show. I now live next door to a CHP Officer and it's strange. A very nice family man, couldn't ask for better neighbors. My 2 nephews are now enrolled in the CHP Cadet Explorer program and I help them study the 10 codes. I'll never forget that opening music to "Highway Patrol". Those of you who have heard it, know what I mean.
