Every Sunday, Film School Rejects presents a film that was made before you were born and tells you why you should like it. This week, Old Ass Movies presents: White Christmas (1954) While walking through a major store the other day, I noticed that all of their Christmas gear had already been broken out, and I felt that that sent a central message to shoppers that Thanksgiving is easily overlooked. The hell with Thanksgiving. Bring on Christmas. Producer John Breglio and the Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc. will bring Broadway uptown for four weeks only with Dreamgirls at the Apollo Theater, prior to the national tour of the new production of the groundbreaking musical. Victoria Theatre Association is holding Live auditions November 17 from 4-7:30pm for the opportunity to sing on the Victoria Theatre stage with five Broadway stars in the Miami Valley and Good Samaritan Hospitals Broadway Series presentation of Broadway Holiday this December 8-20, 2009. The auditions will be held in the Mathile Theatre at the Schuster Center. Each applicant must bring his or her own accompaniment or pianist; a CD player and piano will be available. The auditions will be video taped for judging purposes. All applicants must schedule an audition time by calling the Victoria Theatre at (937) 228-7591. No walk-ins.

Victoria Theatre Association will continue to offer online auditions as well. Joliet, Il - Dan Aykroyd is on a mission from vodka. The Blues Brother is cruising around the country in a Damnation Alley Rv promoting his Crystal Skull premium vodka. He rolled into my town and I was compelled to see the man.

He was appearing at a liquor store on a Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. What sort of crowd could he draw? I showed up at 1 p.m. with my four month old designated driver. There was already 400 people in line. Another 300 people end up behind us. Luckily Dan’s traveling partner announced that even though Dan was schedule to leave at 4:30, he’d be signing his bottles until the last person went home happy.

Why not? Each bottle cost $50. I’ve been told that there’s only two types of vodka in the world: Good vodka and vodka that makes you go blind and piss blood. »

What are Your Favorite Winter Holiday Themed Movies?

I wasn't quite sure how to properly word the headline for this post considering I want to make sure you understand I am talking about the season pretty much running from Thanksgiving to Christmas, but I also want to make sure you know the film itself doesn't have to necessarily be about the holidays.

Take Die Hard for instance, it's set during Christmas time, but it isn't a Christmas film. However, it fits in with what I am looking for here. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Eyes Wide Shut, Fanny and Alexander, Batman Returns, Gremlins, The Thin Man and When Harry Met Sally are other examples. Hell, I would even say Rocky IV and Lethal Weapon count. As a matter of fact, I would say the non-Christmas, Christmas movies are the more interesting additions. How about The Shining or even Psycho?
