Trivia:
Silvana Mangano's recording of "El negro zumbon," known as "Anna" in the U.S., was a million-selling single on MGM Records in 1953. (The recording was taken directly from the soundtrack of the film.) Contrary to popular belief, the lyrics Mangano is singing aren't in Italian--they're in Spanish. moreSoundtrack:

I think this is one of the most beautiful Italian films ever made and I know my views are shared by many! The wildly, beautiful Silvano and the late Vittorio Gassman are excellent in their roles. The songs and dances by Silvana can only be compared to the 'heat' generated by Rita Hayworth in "Gilda"--and you will find yourself loving those love songs for the rest of your life. When she becomes "Sister" Anna: you'll want to have a box of tissues handy.
Lovely Sophia Loren makes one of her first appearances in this beautiful film directed by Carlo Ponti.
