Rumer Refused Help From Parents

16 November 2008 5:46 PM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hollywood newcomer Rumer Willis refused to take any favours from her famous parents, so she could make it as an actress in her own right.

The daughter of divorced Hollywood power couple Bruce Willis and Demi Moore was determined to carve out her own career, without being accused of benefitting from her parents' connections.

And Willis is starting to make her own mark on the industry; she recently landed roles in The House Bunny and forthcoming film Wild Cherry.

Dad Bruce says, "She sat us down and said, 'I know you two think you're big shots, but I don't want any help'. And she went off and got work on her own."

Although she has now refused help from her famous parents, Willis' Hollywood career was kickstarted by appearances in their films. She starred alongside Moore in 1996 movie Striptease, and twice with father Bruce in 2000's The Whole Nine Yards and Hostage in 2005.

Salma Hayek went 20s style last night to the Hollywood Domino Tournament in NYC, held to benefit The Art of Elysium children's foundation. She attended a similar event earlier this year alongside Demi Moore and Kate Hudson, and this time she was joined by Heroes' Ali Larter and Lipstick Jungle's Lindsay Price and Kim Raver. While Lindsay and Kim dealt with drama on their show Friday night, all the ladies were dressed up to have a fun and charitable evening. Theirs was the second in a series of benefits held over the weekend, after Sienna Miller attended a bash in London, and it's great to see the celebrities out enjoying their game for a good cause. Milla Jovovich: Former Stripper

8 November 2008 5:29 AM, PST | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

Resident Evil's Milla Jovovich has been keeping things pretty low-key lately, professionally. She just started a family and now she's ready to get back on the big screen a la Demi Moore in Striptease. Actually, I shouldn't tease you like that. She will be playing a former stripper, so not like Moore's role at all. Sorry guys, no word on whether or not she's going to shimmy on the pole in the film. Variety reports that the flick is called Keep Coming Back and that it will be renowned actor William H. Macy's first foray into directing. I can only assume that the title is in reference to the Alcoholics Anonymous motto "Keep coming back; it works if you work it," as the film is centered around AA folk. The film follows a young man with a severe heart condition who has a giant crush on Milla Jovovich.

Chris chatted with geek about his company's plans to get more into music, while Ashton talked about the ways in which his three step-daughters influenced his latest venture and how he felt about the Obama victory he and Demi had campaigned for in Iowa. Here's more: On how his step-daughters influenced his new project: "I don't think you can help but have your personal influences in some ways get involved. My girls are a lot less gossipy, I think, than the Blah Girls.

'CSI: NY' Actors Take an Active Role in Society

28 October 2008 11:00 PM, PDT | From buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news

CSI: NY’s fifth season is well underway and fans are enjoying the appearances of guest stars on the highly acclaimed police procedural on CBS.  Guest stars this season range from rapper Nelly to former American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry to Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruice Willis and Demi Moore.  As the current season of CSI: NY is airing, the actors of the show took some time off to tend to some personal matters, which include supporting a presidential campaign.

In fact, Hill Harper, who plays Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on the CBS series, recently spoke to Today to reveal his thoughts on presidential candidate Barack Obama, with whom he shares a 20-year friendship.

"[Obama is] intelligent, extremely pragmatic.  That’s the kind of leadership we need now.  Everything that was great about him at Harvard Law School is still great about him now," Harper says of his former schoolmate.  "Anyone who meets

Ashton Kutcher Is A Hired Gun

22 October 2008 7:44 AM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

Ashton Kutcher is seemingly in semi-retirement at the ripe age of 30, married to Demi Moore and, apparently, coaching high school football. And when he chooses to do a movie these days, like this summer's What Happens in Vegas, it tends to be terrible. So I don't have much hope for Five Killers, an action comedy announced today by Variety, which will team Kutcher with 21 director Robert Luketic. Kutcher will play a former hit man who is suddenly targeted by another group of killers, hired by someone from his past. Yes, it would sound way worse if it were a drama-- it's hard to fathom taking Kutcher seriously as an actual hired gun. But as much as I enjoyed Punk'd from time to time, I'd kind of rather Kutcher stick to his fabulous life, unless he's going to come back to make something that sounds more promising. I'm sure there are

Bambi voted top tear-jerker movie

20 October 2008 6:30 AM, PDT | From Boxwish.com | See recent BoxWish news

Hold on to your hankies folks as you’re going to need them. Why? Because a new survey has revealed the nation’s most beloved weepie films. Conducted by Pearl and Dean, 3,000 people opened up their hearts to confirm their pick of the most emotionally draining movies with 1942’s Disney animation Bambi coming out on top. The story of a young fawn coming of age has been a family favourite for generations and its 66 year old ending (“your mother can’t be with you anymore”) has triumphed over more modern blubber-fests. Not your favourite? Click over to see which chin-wobblers also ranked.

Losing out to Bambi was Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore’s supernatural love in Ghost, with third place shared between other Disney animal saga The Lion King and a young boy’s bond with an alien in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. Less family-esque weepies followed with Kate Winslet

Check Out Glamour's Latest Women-Centric Shorts

16 October 2008 7:32 AM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

For a while now, Glamour has been pulling various actresses into the directorial fold with their Reel Moments series. Last year brought the likes of Kirsten Dunst and Jennifer Aniston, and this year, Demi Moore. Now Demi's short is online, along with shorts from Courteney Cox and Kirsten Smith (writer of films like Legally Blonde and The House Bunny).

This has been a pretty kickass project, one that will hopefully get more women behind the camera and making names for themselves. As for the latest bash of shorts -- one is uplifting, one is plain wacky, and the last is a good kick in the shins to the overly weight-conscious. Check them out here for yourself, and keep reading for a rundown of the latest three.

She says, "For a while I thought about studying medicine at school and becoming a doctor because I've always been interested in psychology and how people's minds operate.

"But I'm able to explore some of that as an actor and ultimately I think it seems more interesting."

6 October 2008 9:56 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

David Duchovny has completed his rehab stint for sex addiction, his legal attorney confirmed Monday, October 6. Getting his life back on the right track, he will soon make a return to acting. "David has successfully completed his rehabilitation," the lawyer said in a statement. "He is out of rehab and will be starting a movie soon."

However, the lawyer declined to mention on where the actor had been treated and when exactly he left the treatment center. Duchovny himself has yet issued a single statement about his treatment. He was seen attending the Czech Festival in New York City Sunday, October 5 with his actress wife Tea Leoni. They arrived hand-in-hand but didn't offer words for the press.

Back in late August this year, Duchovny set tongue wagging when he issued a statement through his lawyer, Stanton "Larry" Stein, saying "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction.
