Simpson Gives Minivan to Orphanage
Jessica Simpson just keeps on giving - a week after buying her dad a Ferrari, the pop star has handed officials at a Mexican orphanage she supports the keys to a brand new minivan. The 26-year-old singer/actress surprised staff and kids at the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on Sunday when she drove a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country through the gates of the home. Simpson has enjoyed a long history with the orphanage - when she first visited the place seven years ago, she had to be talked out of adopting one of the children. The singer has been a regular visitor and contributor ever since. Mama Lupita, who runs the struggling orphanage is the new owner of the minivan. A thrilled Simpson was overcome with emotion as the children thanked her for her generosity. She said, "I'm so honored and happy to be able to help." Simpson was joined in her mercy mission by mum Tina and manager/father Joe. The singer won a Chrysler sports car at the MTV Video Music Awards last year, but asked the bosses at the auto firm to exchange the vehicle for a minivan, so she could donate it to the orphanage, after hearing that Mama Lupita's van had broken down.

Stern: "Anna Nicole Refused To Check Into Hospital"
Anna Nicole Smith's longtime companion Howard K. Stern insists the tragic model would still be alive today if she hadn't refused medical help before her death. In a statement released late on Monday, Stern revealed he and other friends and aides had urged Smith to check into a Florida hospital after her temperature spiked, but, fearing a "media frenzy," she insisted on sleeping off her fever. In announcing the cause of death as an accidental drug overdose earlier on Monday, medical examiner Dr. Joshua Perper revealed the model should have already have been in hospital at the time of her death. Perper said Smith had been suffering from stomach flu, a 105 degree fever and an infection from repeated drug injections. In a statement, released by Stern's lawyers, Smith's companion reveals his girlfriend refused emergency care in the days before her death because "she did not want the media frenzy that follows her." He claims both he and Smith's physician begged her to seek proper medical help, but "Anna called the shots in Anna's life and everyone close to her knows that."
