"Iron Man 2" will have been in theaters for almost a month when Free Comic Book Day rolls around on June 6, 2010, and Iron Man swag will be muscling its way into four separate releases that day.

An "Iron Man/Thor" book, another comic titled "Iron Man: Supernova," a War Machine Heroclix figure, and packs of "Iron Man 2" trading cards all appear on the official Fcbd lineup released by Diamond. That's all in addition to "War of the Supermen" #0, Kevin Smith's "Green Hornet" #1 from Dynamite Entertainment and a double-sided "Mouseguard/Fraggle Rock" flip-book from Archaia.

Read on for some suggestions regarding the next batch of Free Comic Book Day comics and the complete Fcbd 2010 checklist.

You might be lucky enough to frequent a comics shop with no limits on the number of Fcbd releases its customers can grab, but if you find yourself with a three-comic cap, I »

'The Green Hornet,' Ellen Page In 'Inception,' And The Minnesota Vikings In Today's Twitter Report

A few movie-related cheers and jeers got tossed around the Twitter Report's feed over the last 24 hours. Joe Hill seems to have been catching up on his "Green Hornet" news, and both Michel Gondry and Anvil have his approval. Bryan Lee O'Malley, meanwhile, sounded a little skeptical of Ellen Page's role in the new Christopher Nolan film "Inception."

In sports/comics crossover conversation, Brian Michael Bendis noticed the trending Vikings topic last night that was spurred by the Chicago Bears victory over Minnesota. He hoped that "Vikings" writer Ivan Brandon would notice as well. Check out all of those retweets after the jump along with a birthday wish I endorse going out to Jeff Katz and a memorial shout out to Star Trek actress Majel Barrett, which I also support.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your comics Twitterverse roundup for December 29, 2009.

War Machine Will 'Kick Some Major Ass' In 'Iron Man 2,' Promises Joe Quesada

There's no shortage of hype surrounding the debut of War Machine in "Iron Man 2," and according to Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada, the character will more than live up to his action-packed tease in the new "Iron Man 2" trailer.

"I've actually seen a rough cut of the movie, and it's going to be good," Quesada told MTV News during the opening night of "Marvelous Color," a new art exhibit in Manhattan. The exhibit highlights Marvel's history of prominent African-American characters, with special attention paid to six of the publisher's most well-known heroes: Storm, Black Panther, Luke Cage, Blade, Falcon and of course, War Machine.

"[Don] Cheadle is one of the greatest living American actors, what do you expect?" said Quesada of the actor playing War Machine's alter ego, James "Rhodey" Rhodes, in the blockbuster sequel. "I think fans are going to love it — especially fans of War Machine — and he does kick some major ass. »

'Batman: The Animated Series' Writer's Bible Reveals Story Intentions And Villainous Traits

While I would never deny the amazing quality of the recent DC Universe animated movies — heck, "Wonder Woman" was my favorite comic book film of the year — my first love will always be "Batman: The Animated Series," the much beloved cartoon that made household names out of Kevin Conroy, Bruce Timm and Harley Quinn throughout the comic book community.

Although the show is long over, there's still plenty of "Batman: Tas" goodness for fans to enjoy. Recently, the show's "Series Writer's Bible" made the rounds online, revealing some fascinating insight into the cartoon's production process from the creative minds of Bruce Timm and Paul Dini.

Read on for some of the highlights from the "Batman" writers' bible.

The Origins of Crime: The show's obvious reliance on film noir and crime story tropes wasn't just an extra enjoyable layer — it was part of the series' fabric.

Stan Lee Reveals The Marvel Movies He'd Like To See!

Yesterday was Stan Lee's birthday, so it seemed appropriate to celebrate with some thoughts from the comics legend himself on the likelihood of seeing more movies based on characters he co-created back in the day for Marvel Comics.

"The funny thing is, I think all of them will come to the screen sooner or later," Lee told MTV News, "because they're always looking for new properties, and Marvel has more than anybody."

Lee reiterated his belief that the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, will eventually find his way to the big screen, and name-dropped a few other characters he expects will make their live-action debut some day.

"Doctor Strange I'm sure will be out. You probably know they're working on Ant-Man now," he added. "Every one of the Marvel characters, there's somebody working on it. Somebody is trying to put together a story that will work."

'Iron Man 2' Stuntman On 'The Losers,' Zoe Saldana's Training And Filling In For Mickey Rourke

Director Sylvain White’s highly anticipated adaptation of Andy Diggle and Jock's “The Losers” will hit theaters next April. And while the film has an all-star cast — including Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana, Idris Elba and Columbus Short — the movie may ultimately stand out from the pack thanks to its reliance on practical special effects over CGI, according to veteran stunt coordinator Garrett Warren (“Avatar”).

“[White] wanted it to be not only like the comic book but somewhat more visceral,” relayed Warren during an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “It’s an amazingly real yet superbly comical look at these black ops special agents. And I loved the dichotomy. He was thinking the ‘Bourne’ films and ‘24,’ and yet he wanted to have comedy involved.”

“It’s all live action, 100%,” continued Warren. “There is some amazing action in that movie. You will be blown away. People will think, ‘Wow, that had to be CG. »

From 'Sherlock Holmes' To 'Kick-Ass,' Mark Strong Discusses Potential Sequels

While many are praising actor Mark Strong's recent turn as the villainous Lord Blackwood in "Sherlock Holmes," comic book movie fans are looking forward to him in another role. Strong will play mobster Frank D'Amico in Matthew Vaughn's live-action film based on John Romita Jr. and Mark Millar's "Kick-Ass" comic book series.

MTV News caught up with Strong during the "Sherlock Holmes" junket in London, and made sure to pick his brain about his much-anticipated debut in "Kick-Ass" — and whether we'll see more of him and the "Kick-Ass" cast in sequels.

"The first eight [issues] are basically this movie and I'm sure it can go on and on if they want it to," Strong told MTV News of the likelihood that we'll see a "Kick-Ass" sequel.

Just last week, Millar announced that he already has a title for the comic book sequel to "Kick-Ass," which could provide a »

'Paranormal Activity: The Search For Katie' Digital Comic Review

28 December 2009 1:16 PM, PST

Created on a budget of less than $15,000 and shunted along in the festival circuit for roughly two years, "Paranormal Activity" is one of the most noteworthy films released this year. The found-footage horror flick emerged this fall as a top box-office earner, setting records as the most profitable film of all time. Considering the out-of-nowhere success, it's no surprise that tie-ins are only just starting to trickle out.

One of those tie-ins is "Paranormal Activity: The Search for Katie," a digital comic for iPhone and iPod Touch published by Idw. The story picks up after the events of the film, so needless to say, there are Spoilers Ahead.

The first issue of the new series was released as a self-contained App, downloadable for $0.99, and promised some answers for fans regarding what became of Katie after the terrifying final minutes of the movie.

Picking up shortly after the events of the film, »

Superman Loves Spider-Woman

28 December 2009 12:29 PM, PST

Superhero fan films are one thing, but Bollywood films based on comics... Well, they're usually an entirely different kind of awesome.

Take, for example, 1988's "Dariya Dil." In one sequence posted on YouTube, stars Govinda and Kimi Katkar suit up as Superman and Spider-Woman, respectively, for a song-and-dance number. Along with showing off their slick moves while flying through the air, the pair also take a break to toss some bad guys around — right before they kick off the next dance number, that is.

Now that is the sort of Marvel/DC crossover we probably won't see in the comics any time soon.

Hey, it's a slow day, okay?

Stan Lee's Birthday, War Machine, And 'Avatar' In Today's Twitter Report

28 December 2009 11:01 AM, PST

Today marks the birthday of a comics icon, and the Twitter Report joins Christos Gage, Brian Michael Bendis, Tony Lee and most of this column's follow list in wishing the Marvel Universe's lead architect a hearty excelsior as he celebrates. Birthday boy Stan Lee, meanwhile, closed his daily Twitter meditations Sunday with the realization that his leadership role on a private island country he's planning may produce conflicts of interest with his mayorship in "Marvel Super Hero Squad."

In other tweets, Kevin Smith was blown away by the new "Iron Man 2" trailer and relayed his War Machine thoughts to Jon Favreau. Check those posts out after the jump along with Jock's Batwoman and Judge Dredd-related tasks, Simon Pegg on video games and fatherhood and another "Avatar" reaction.

It's all in the Twitter Report for December 28, 2009.

Excelsior! Happy Birthday, Stan Lee!

28 December 2009 8:01 AM, PST

If you're walking down the street today and happen to hear a crowd shouting the word "Excelsior!" over and over again, don't panic — it's simply the comic book community's way of celebrating Stan Lee's birthday.

The acclaimed Marvel Comics creator and writer turns 87 years old today, but you could hardly tell based on Lee's level of activity and unwavering enthusiasm for both his past successes and present projects alike.

Here at Splash Page, we've made a regular habit of speaking about and with Lee, indisputably one of the greatest comic book creators of all time. While it's not surprising that Stan The Man is still hard at work in an industry he helped to revolutionize, he is nonetheless showing up in some surprising places.

Twitter, for example, has become a virtual playground for the Pow! Entertainment founder. Lee told MTV News that using Twitter brings him back to the days of Stan's Soapbox, »

'Captain America' To Start Filming In June?

28 December 2009 7:01 AM, PST

Marvel Studios’ “Captain America” movie may finally be heading in front of cameras next June.

According to an interview with director Joe Johnston at Fangoria, Johnston is “readying for a June start” for “The First Avenger: Captain America.”

Information about the “Captain America” film has been in relatively short supply since Johnston — the director of “The Rocketeer” and the upcoming remake of “The Wolfman" — was signed to direct the film last year. "Chronicles of Narnia" screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are also attached to write the script which is reportedly set in World War II.

Given that “Captain America” is scheduled to be released in July 2011 — two months after Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” adaptation hits theaters — it’s somewhat surprising that the lead role has yet to be cast.

Back in 2008, popular speculation centered around Will Smith wielding the shield — rumors which were eventually shot down by Smith himself. »

'First Class' Advice For Bryan Singer's 'X-Men' Return

28 December 2009 6:02 AM, PST

It's official, folks — Bryan Singer is returning to the mutant movie franchise he built up in the first place with "X-Men: First Class."

Singer's filmmaking journey has had its ups and downs — leaving the "X-Men" series for "Superman Returns," only to find that his vision didn't quite fly with mainstream moviegoers — but all of those experiences should only help the director as he settles back in for his take on Cyclops, Jean Grey and Professor Xavier's other gifted youths.

Still, here's hoping that Singer keeps the following few things in mind as he begins preparations on "First Class."

Changing History: While "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," set decades before Singer's first film, reflected the continuity of the initial "X-Men" trilogy, I hope that Singer realizes he doesn't have to adhere to that cinematic continuity. Story should come first and foremost, whether or not that means he has to break away from the »
