Up – Q&A Interview With Pete Docter And Jonas Rivera Plus Bonus Scene Progression Stills

I have a couple more bonuses to go along with the release of Up this week. Interviews with Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera, and some great progression of a scene images. These are a couple of very fun interviews, and it's pretty interesting to see how the final product comes together. Enjoy. ------------- Q: You’ve been with Pixar since the beginning. What has that been like? A: I think of the keys to our success is that we grew up together as artists, working on the various commercials we did, and then Toy Story. John Lasseter [chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios and principal creative advisor at Walt Disney Imagineering], Andrew Stanton [writer/director of Wall•E], and Joe Ranft [writer/co-director of Cars], who has since passed away — we all got to work with each other early on, and now that we’re split up, we still check in with each other. We speak a common language, we know each other’s strengths, and so on. That collaboration has been really key. »

Bruno – DVD Review

Sacha Baron Cohen has the kind of comic mind that doesn't come along often. That may be a good or bad thing, it may even jump from one to the other and back in the matter of a few minutes, but he's an amazingly funny guy with a lot of different perspectives of what makes for good comedy. Of course, most of the time you probably want to put quotes around "good," but even for those who might be repulsed by much of what takes place in Bruno, you can't sit through the whole thing and claim you never laughed once. It's the same old story really. It's the tale of a young Austrian lad who dreams of becoming famous. He's managed to become the host of a strange fashion show, and when things don't work out so well for him there, he decides to come to America and really become famous. »

White Collar’s Tiffani Thiessen Q&A Interview

13 November 2009 7:50 AM, PST

It looks like USA has another hit on their hands. The White Collar ratings are strong, the chatter is all positive as far as I've managed to catch, and it's settling itself into a hell of a show. I have to admit that while I really liked the pilot, I was a bit nervous with how the show was going to progress from there. But, I think the show has overcome my fears. Today I have an interview with Tiffani Thiessen, straight from the news that she's expecting. Due to some very last minute technical difficulties, I was not able to participate in this one, but the folks from the show were kind enough to get the transcript to me to share with you. If you've missed the show up to this point, you're in luck, because USA is having a marathon tonight. »

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans Images, Production Stills, Trailer And Sneak

11 November 2009 4:43 AM, PST

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans has been getting a good bit of buzz from critics and made a pretty good showing at some festivals recently. It's opening November 20th, and it looks like this might be one to make sure you get to when it hits. Some critics I pay attention to have said made me rather interested in this one, and you can hardly go wrong with a Werner Herzog film. Ok, the last bit might be just me, but take a look at the trailer, a sneak peek, and a lot of pictures anyway. In Werner Herzog’s new film Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans, Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs -- while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun »

Up – Blu-Ray DVD 4-Pack Review

10 November 2009 7:58 AM, PST

Long ago I mentioned that Pixar has a curious ability to make movies I find wonderful, but virtually no ability to get me excited for them. That hasn’t changed. Sure, now I’m just generally moved to anticipation because Pixar hasn’t really ever put together a movie I couldn’t stand, but it doesn’t go much past that. I mean, old guy’s house floats away on balloons sure, but what do I really know about the film? Up begins with a young, and thoroughly goofy boy named Carl watching a theatrical newsreel circa… long ago days when there were theatrical newsreels. He’s watching footage of his hero Charles Muntz, super-explorer extraordinaire. Little Carl is enthralled. Heck, he’s already got his own goggles just like Muntz wears when he’s flying around the world in his giant zeppelin. But wait! It seems Muntz has been »

Wii Fit Plus Review

9 November 2009 5:04 PM, PST

It's gotten to the point now where we are just about spoiled for choice when it comes to fitness titles for the Wii. Once Wii Fit and the balance board hit shelves, the fitness possibilities started popping up everywhere. Right now there must be around 15 to choose from, and more are on the way. Now there's Wii Fit Plus, with several upgrades to the original, and it's getting difficult to figure out what might be right for you. Each product hypes its own best features and priorities, and if you're after something very specific, you can probably figure out what you want without too much trouble. Knowing where to turn if you're looking more generally is a bit trickier. If you want something pretty serious, and want a general workout with a lot of options, EA Sports Active is still probably your best bet. But, in my opinion, Wii Fit »
