'Motel Hell' Remake Director Discovered!

10 October 2008 5:25 PM, PDT

We got the scoop from a few various sources that Bloody-Disgusting fav, Steven C. Miller, is in final talks to direct MGM's remake of Motel Hell. Miller first graced your computer screens when we were the first to review his independent zombie film Automaton Transfusion (now on DVD from Dimension Extreme), which was made for a measly $30,000 (I'm still in shock). No more details have been revealed, but we'll keep you posted. The classic 1980 horror comedy followed Farmer Vincent's famous sausage business run out of a hotel that snags unsuspecting tourists and harvests them to become tomorrow's smoky breakfast links.

Have Jigsaw Call or E-mail Your Friends and Family

10 October 2008 4:43 PM, PDT

Here's something interesting that you can use to torment the ones you love. If you head on over to Saw5.varitalk.com you can have Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) send them a message via phone or e-mail. This is pretty similar to the gimmick used by New Line Cinema for Snakes On A Plane. Lionsgate's Saw V hits theaters October 24th under the direction of David Hackl. In the fifth installment of the popular Saw franchise, Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends.

'My Bloody Valentine' Gets R-Rating

10 October 2008 12:53 PM, PDT

It was revealed to Bloody-Disgusting that Lionsgate's My Bloody Valentine 3D has been given an R-rating by the MPAA for "graphic, brutal horror violence and grizzly images throughout, some strong sexuality, graphic nudity and language." Being directed by Patrick Lussier, it is said that this new 3-D technology is going to be mind-blowing, featuring more depth than ever before. In the remake Tom (Jensen Ackles) returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine's night massacre that claimed the life of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders. Jamie King, Jensen Ackles, Tom Atkins, Kerr Smith, Edi Gathegi, Kevin Tighe and Megan Boone all star.

Kevin Smith's 'Red State' Not Commercial Enough

9 October 2008 2:59 PM, PDT

While Kevin Smith's out and about promoting his latest dick and fart joke comedy, Zack And Miri Make A Porno, he has also been chit-chatting about his long-gestured horror-thriller Red State. The good news is that Smith is apparently dying to make the movie, the bad news is that nobody will let him. Inside you can read the latest from an interview over at AICN. "I'm still trying to find money for Red State, though, admittedly, I haven't been looking that hard yet, since it's not something I'm gonna get to 'til March the earliest. Early prospects, however, look dim. Problem is, the flick is bleak. Beyond bleak, even. Remember how bleak Dark Knight was? This flick makes the bleakness level in that flick seem Beverly Hills Chihuahua bleak...."

Josh Brolin the Latest Rumored to Play 'Jonah Hex'

9 October 2008 2:49 PM, PDT

Josh Brolin is signed to play Jonah Hex in Warner Bros. Pictures adaptation of the comic of the same name, according to Hollywod-Elsewere. This dispels all rumors about Thomas Jane scoring the role. Written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank, Pathology), Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood. "Hex" first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of "All-Star Western" before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements.

It has been about six months since Brad Anderson dropped out of directing The Crazies, only to be replaced by Breck Eisner. A Scary Future Portrayed In 'Fortuna'

8 October 2008 12:07 AM, PDT

Out of every film announced, the one tonight has one of the coolest, yet creepiest plots of them all. Inside you can read about Fortuna, a game that will think out the population, while making a few lucky individuals wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. Set in 2100, "Fortuna" envisions an Earth where a collapsed economy and climate crises have eliminated the middle class, leaving a few very wealthy and the teeming masses in severe poverty. To give hope and avoid revolt, the elite create Fortuna, a mysterious game where one in a thousand wins a big payday and joins the upper classes. But their hidden goal to "reduce poverty" by 30% over 50 years comes with a deadly price tag. Dominic Monaghan, Freddy Rodriguez and "Fortuna" writer-director Barthelemy Grossmann will play desperate men who play the game in a nearby tower, despite apprehensions that none of its contestants are ever seen again.

Finally Some Truth Regarding 'Evil Dead 4'

7 October 2008 3:48 PM, PDT

I am seriously fed up with hearing about Evil Dead 4. Every single thing reported is completely contradictory as Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell appear to want to do a sequel, and constantly tease that it might happen, only it never goes anywhere. Even beyond that, The Evil Dead remake is still collecting dust. After nearly a decade of Bs, I say, put your money where your mouth is. Thankfully, Bruce Campbell appears to be on his last straw too as he has given probably the most honest answer ever to the question, "where the eff is Ash?" During a new interview with Toyfare Magazine, Bruce Campbell finally gets sick of the "Ash" related questions and spits out a fireball of what appears to be the God-given truth.....

Spierig's 'Daybreakers' Delayed to 2009

6 October 2008 7:08 PM, PDT

While Lionsgate's Saw V is set to hit theaters October 24th, the studio has been under scrutiny after dumping Clive Barker's The Midnight Meat Train in discount theaters this summer, and planning a limited release for the musical-horror film Repo! The Genetic Opera on November 7. In addition, J.T. Petty's The Burrowers is going stright-to-disc in April. Various reasons have been cited, none have been confirmed, but there are more Lionsgate horror films that are having trouble hitting theaters - one such is the Spierig brothers' vampire pic Daybreakers. While we've heard Lionsgate is very happy with the pic (and had originally planned a trilogy for the franchise), the studio has yet to confirm that the film will hit theaters. While we wait for something official, you can read some fresh news from one of the stars of the film inside.
