Hollywood megastar Russell Crowe pushed up the budget of his new film Master And Commander by $150,000 - just to get his hair cut. The Oscar-winning actor left the crew of the Napoleonic war epic displeased after his demands and requirements pushed spending up considerably. Crowe, who has recently become engaged to girlfriend Danielle Spencer, demanded that his favorite Sydney based hairdresser Belinda Jeffery was flown in first class every time he needed her and all her hotel and expenses costs were footed by the production budget. A source says, "Russell was throwing his weight around on set from the word go. He did not get on with the hairdresser who had been provided for him and threw a strop until the producers agreed he could fly Belinda in whenever she was needed. They had to agree to fly her first class and as she had a busy salon in Sydney they had to fly her back too. It cost them at least $150,000 and really it was something that could easily have been done by any hairdresser. He insisted that Belinda was the only one he wanted to touching his hair. The rumor on set was that he was going grey and he was pretty sensitive about it." »
