Hunky Hollywood star Russell Crowe has finally apologized to actress Meg Ryan for choosing his friends over her - despite being madly in love. The pair had a torrid, highly publicized affair after meeting on the set of Proof Of Life last year. But their relationship, made more complicated by Ryan's collapsing marriage to actor Dennis Quaid, fell apart last Christmas when Crowe chose to spend a boozy Yuletide in Australia with his friends, while Ryan pined in America with son Jack. Now Crowe sheepishly admits, "I owe her an apology for not being as flexible as I might have been. I don't think I'll make that mistake again." And Crowe confesses he was deeply in love with the petite blonde. He says, "It was an incredibly intense period of my life, and obviously of hers. How can you deny yourself something that was absolute and passionate and gigantic? We fell in love. It happens, thank God. She's a magnificent person." »
