Alynda Wheat's Beat Cop: The Last Patrol

6 November 2009 9:58 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

There’s no way I’m going to get this right. We never say precisely what we ought to when we part, the words are never perfect enough — not even for those of us who get paid to write them…or used to, anyway. I’m sorry to say that this is the last time we’ll walk the Beat together as I'm leaving EW. So I’ll tell you what, Coppers, let’s save the hugs for the end, stuff down the tears (I grant that they’re probably all mine), and take a stroll. I’m ready if you are. »

NCIS fans may already know too much about Ziva's (Cote de Pablo) daddy and last season we were introduced to Jackson Gibbs, father of, well, Gibbs (Mark Harmon). What about the other people? Entertainment Weekly reports that this season, we will get to know the father of another NCIS agent - Tony's (Michael Weatherly).

Tony's dad is set to grace NCIS for the procedural's upcoming 150th episode, airing sometime in January. NCIS' Michael Weatherly on Tony Dinozzo: He's Annoying and Irritating

2 November 2009 12:31 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

There's no "i" in NCIS. Oh, wait, there is. While TV's #1 show features a talented cast from top to bottom, Michael Weatherly has probably shined the most so far this season.

In the heart-stopping Season 7 premiere, "Truth or Consequences," Weatherly's Tony Dinozzo was featured in an episode that seemed engineered to show off his character.

Whether he's tormenting McGee, being chastised by Gibbs, flirting with Ziva (Cote de Pablo) or annoying pretty much everyone, he's remained front and center ever since.

In an interview with TV Guide Magazine, Weatherly talked about his juvenile character, a song he has coming up on the NCIS soundtrack and much more. Excerpts below:

On NCIS now being TV's No. 1 show, not just the No. 1 non-reality show: "I just don’t want anything to change. No. 3 is kind of better. They’re still not gonna cancel you if you’re No. 3. But now everyone’s looking. »

Cote de Pablo Dishes on NCIS' Ziva and Tony

29 October 2009 10:04 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Cote de Pablo hails from the nation of Chile, whereas her character on NCIS, Ziva David, is of Israeli descent. Only one of them is a trained killer with ice in her veins.

Still there are parallels between the two, as TV Guide learned, not the least of which being their sober professionalism in the face of certain people's goofiness.

Yup, we're talking about both Michael Weatherly and Tony Dinozzo. Below are excerpts from the magazine's recent Q&A with the super-serious special agent.

Q: So Ziva gets to be “probie” for a while now?

Cote: Wellll, as probie as Ziva can be. She gets teased specifically by Dinozzo, who just finds it the funniest thing in the world. But it bothers her tremendously.

Q: You were the last major piece of the NCIS puzzle, at least for the core group. You’ve been here four years now. How long »

NCIS Spoilers: Romance For Tony and Ziva?

18 October 2009 1:39 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Any NCIS viewer knows that the chemistry between Tony and Ziva is palpable.

But does that mean the NCIS special agents played by Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo will the current will-they-or-won't-they tension to another level?

It's certainly possible, but don't hold your breath, says Weatherly.

”Look at it from a practical angle,” Weatherly told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s Kryptonite! She’s an assassin! That’s like marrying a hooker. You gotta be real comfortable with the fact she’s gonna hook! Seriously, I don’t see how, domestically, (a relationship) would work."

Still, he adds, "But that’s me. Tony Dinozzo is completely unaware."

Would you want to see NCIS' Tony and Ziva form Tiva?

So far this season, NCIS fans have seen Ziva give Tony a peck on the cheek in the season premiere, when Tony and the team rescued Ziva in North Africa.

Whether things progress remains to be seen, »

Alynda Wheat's Beat Cop: We come to bury 'Svu,' not to praise it

16 October 2009 10:54 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Now it’s official. Law & Order: Svu is on the crazy train, jumping tracks and stranding passengers in Nowheresville. Some of us (okay, mainly me) carped about Christine Lahti’s role as fill-in Ada Sonya Paxton from the beginning. When she wasn’t belittling Stabler (Christopher Meloni) she was sneering at Benson (Mariska Hargitay) or taunting suspects, all the while teary-eyed and callow. The character was inconsistent, insulting, and insufferable. Wednesday night we learned it was all, theoretically, because she’s a lush. Oh, let us rewind this one, because there was plenty to gnash at in this episode appropriately titled “Hammered. »

Michael Weatherly on Tony and Ziva of 'NCIS': a relationship would be like 'Kryptonite'

15 October 2009 4:35 PM, PDT | EW - Hollywood Insider.com | See recent EW.com - Hollywood Insider news »

There's no mistaking the serious chemistry between Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) on NCIS, but fans shouldn't get too caught up in the will-they-or-won't-they drama, warns the actor."Let's look at it from a practical angle," Weatherly told EW.com exclusively. "It's Kryptonite! She's an assassin! That's like marrying a hooker. You gotta be real comfortable with the fact she's gonna go hook! I don't see how, domestically, (a relationship) would work. NCIS Preview: What Exactly Happened to Ziva?

Ziva (Cote de Pablo) may be back at her desk on NCIS, but she's far from being fully integrated back into the team.

That could all change in Tuesday's episode.

Fall TV: Get scoop on all your favorite returning shows

When a marine's death on foreign soil is connected to the freighter on which Ziva was held captive in the Season 6 finale, she will not only get involved in the case, but she'll also have to face her past. The good news for viewers: We'll finally get to see just what happened during Ziva's captivity.

"We're filling in the blanks," executive producer Shane Brennan tells TVGuide.com. "In the audience's mind, we're filling in how she ended up being captured by Salim, and the audience gets taken on a ride back to her time on the ship. It's a companion piece to the season opener. »

NCIS: Preview of Episode 7.4 "Good Cop, Bad Cop"

12 October 2009 4:58 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

To sign or not to sign?

That is what we'll find out on tonight's episode of NCIS. And to make things more exciting, "Good Cop, Bad Copy" is another Ziva-centric episode. An investigation forces Ziva (Cote de Pablo) to dig up a lost chapter of her life, which currently hangs in the balance depending on whether or not Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will sign up her clearance to return to NCIS or not (of course, there's another signature that is oh-so-important in the current proceedings, by the way, lest we forget).

'NCIS' Reunion Recap: Can Gibbs Trust Ziva Again?

29 September 2009 5:41 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Of course, Ziva (Cote de Pablo) was back, and while it wasn't explicitly made clear if she's back to the NCIS team, we all know it's going in that direction. On this episode, we get the usual murder mystery that involved a cop who was out for revenge - although there was also something going on behind the shadows here.

We realize early on that the rescue mission that took the team to North Africa was only the first step of this thing with Ziva; getting her to be back to NCIS was another matter entirely. Eventually, it's up to Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to decide if Ziva would be back or not. At least she aced Vance's (Rocky Carroll) psych evaluation. But trying to rebuild ties with the McGee (Sean Murray) and Tony (Michael Weatherly) were more complicated. Abby (Pauley Perrette), meanwhile, kind of blasted Ziva since she doubted Tony's motives in shooting Rivkin, »

NCIS: Preview of Episode 7.2 "Reunion"

28 September 2009 7:08 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

On tonight's episode of NCIS, it looks like we're back to business after last week's harrowing affair as the team investigates the bizarre death of a Marine, to which his friends may be linked. However, not everyone's in the clear yet as Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is given the final word on Ziva's (Cote de Pablo) future with NCIS, although I highly doubt it if it's going to be anything drastic.

On last week's kick-off, Tony (Michael Weatherly) was captured by a Sudanese terrorist and was interrogated on how did exactly he get there (perfect time for a sort of reintroduction and a refresher in one for the whole NCIS experience). He essentially told the story of the how the team worked after Ziva went back to Mossad, how he and McGee (Sean Murray) tried to find a replacement, and how the team finally realized that Ziva was in danger and was therefore need of rescuing. »

Alynda Wheat's Beat Cop: In which Wentworth Miller, Cromartie, and Benjamin Button crash our sets

25 September 2009 2:32 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Come on, people, you never leave the perp with Wentworth Miller! That’s Article 96, Section 242, Clause 3 of the Procedural Code! Wait, wait. Before we get too shouty about last night’s Law & Order: Svu, let’s call the meeting to order and go over some Beat Cop business. At our last meeting, commenter Judy Woodruff (let’s just assume that’s an alias, and the PBS anchor is way busy with actual news) asked if we’re going to loop Southland (tonight at 9 on NBC) into our discussions. This brings up an excellent point, Coppers: What counts as a procedural? »

'NCIS' Season 7 Premiere Packs a Punch - on Tiva

23 September 2009 6:23 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Of course, Ziva (Cote de Pablo) survives even if Abbey proclaimed that she's "universally absent." I mean, she had to survive right, there's simply no way the NCIS team's going to break up - again - following the bashing that they got when they toyed with the idea last season. But more importantly on the NCIS season 7 premiere - more important than the absolutely insane 20 million that tuned in - is that it shed light and perhaps pushed the dreaded/adored Tiva storyline.

To get you up to speed, trapped in a prison cell, Tony - under the effect of a sort of truth serum or not - asked Ziva how her summer was. Ziva said, rather grimly and with absolutely no clue she was sounding cheesy, "Out of everyone in the world to find me, it had to be you."

'NCIS' season 7 premiere: Gibbs is still the man

23 September 2009 7:36 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Spoiler Alert! If you haven't seen last night's season premiere of NCIS, and you intend to, stop reading now. Do not click through to watch the clip of Gibbs (Mark Harmon) stealing the episode from Tony (Michael Weatherly), who risked his— and McGee's — life to rescue Ziva (while working in a nice True Liesreference, as naturally Tony would). Do not get excited when Tony tells the bad guy Saleem (Omid Abtahi, who I do not find all that scary since I've seen him on episodes of Bones and Ghost Whisperer), "Remember when I told you my boss was a sniper?" (Clearly, Tony was describing the team for the benefit of new viewers, which was a little frustrating for fans, but that ending almostmade up for it.) Do not chuckle inappropriately when you see Gibbs emerge in his desert camouflage like some kind of burlap monster with curlie-q fur to shoot another guy dead and say, »

NCIS: Preview of Season 7 Premiere "Truth or Consequences"

21 September 2009 7:20 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Fans of the much talked-about Tiva (that would be Tony and Ziva in NCIS speak) won't be pleased with tonight's season 7 premiere of CBS procedural NCIS. Tony (Michael Weatherly) and McGee (Sean Murray) are instructed by Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to search for a replacement for Ziva (Cote de Pablo), whose homecoming to Israel had not exactly been the most pleasant last season. From what we know, she was captured by the terrorists in Somalia that Rivkin had been investigating.

And true to form, Ziva is a no-show on tonight's premiere. Instead, we get a sort of Ziva, same willowy hair, same no-frills demeanor, and wouldn't you know it, Tony likes her too! The NCIS team heads back to work, despite the past still weighing heavily on their minds. In one clip, the two special agents interview one Clair Connell from the DEA as a potential replacement for Ziva. She has »

'NCIS' On a Lookout for Another Female Agent

2 September 2009 4:55 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

But what about Ziva (Cote de Pablo), you ask.

Entertainment Weekly reports that NCIS is on a lookout for another female federal agent by the name of Agent Ruiz - someone attractive, athletic, and competent. Ziva, anyone? The character is in her late 20s to mid 30s who "tends to put her foot in her mouth." Ok, that part doesn't sound Ziva at all.
