After Dark Films has a spotty record at best with regard to both its annual "8 Films to Die For" festival and its few forays into producing original content. However, we have to admit the storyline for Adf's upcoming creature feature Husk sounds pretty damn intriguing, and the cast they've assembled isn't too shabby either.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Devon Graye (pictured), best known for playing the teenage Dexter on Showtime's "Dexter," will co-star in Husk with C.J. Thomason, Wes Chatham, and the previously signed Tammin Sursok. Brett Simmons wrote the script and is directing the project, which is based on his 2005 short film of the same name. (Check out its trailer below.)

Devon Graye, Cj Thomason and Wes Chatham have signed on to star in the scary fillum, Husk, about mad killer scarecrows. Yes, scarecrows. Which pretty much makes this a must-see, when it crops up in Kim’s Video Dungeon in a year’s time. The trio – the most famous of whom is Graye, who plays young Dexter on the TV show, erm, Dexter – will play schoolmates who, along with two others, are lured into an isolated farm when crows attack their SUV. There, stranded, they’re attacked by supernatural scarecrows, who pick them off one by one and add them to their undead ranks. As ever with movies like this, the group of friends handily fill out a bunch of stereotypes for ultimate dramatic effect. So Graye is a brainbox, Thomason a regular Joe and Chatham, as befits a man whose name is one letter away from ‘Statham’, is the jock. »

Devon Graye, Cj Thomason and Wes Chatham have signed on to star in Husk, a horror film about angry killer scarecrows. That's right, not just killer scarecrows...angry killer scarecrows.
Graye, the most famous of the trio — who plays young Dexter on the TV series of the same name — will star with Thomason and Chatham as schoolmates who are lured onto an isolated farm when crows attack their SUV. Stranded, they soon realize that the cornfields are inhabited by reanimated human scarecrows who reproduce by killing and forcing their undead victims to join their ranks.
The characters seem to follow the usual "insert character here" mold of intellectual geek...jock...and everyday working class hero, respectively. They are joined by two more characters, likely to be girls, and likely to fill similar female stereotypes.
Husk is presently shooting in Iowa, under the stewardship of Brett Simmons, who also wrote the script, »
