Waylett Posed With Cannabis Plants For 'Drug Baron' Snaps

6 November 2009 12:11 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Shamed Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett posed for a series of gangster-style snaps alongside his stash of cannabis plants just days before he was arrested for marijuana possession in April.

The 19 year old, who is known to millions as Hogwarts bully Vincent Crabbe in the wizard franchise, was arrested after police pulled over his car and caught him in possession of several bags of pot.

His London home was subsequently raided by cops, who discovered the star was growing 10 cannabis plants. He was charged with illegal production and was handed 120 hours community service.

But new photographs show the actor shamelessly posing with his crop as he smoked the drug.

A pal tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "Jamie is trying to look hard (tough) - like a drug baron surveying his empire. What a total idiot."

Waylett's character was written out of the series' final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, after the incident. »

Harry Potter's Goyle Reveals Changes For Final Movies

21 August 2009 8:51 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

All the press focus get shoved onto the main Harry Potter kids, the Daniel Radcliffes and the Emma Watsons who are carefully controlled by the studio and know better than to say anything that might not make the studio happy. But apparently to get the real juicy stuff, you have to go to the minor players-- which is how MuggleNet got their hands on some slight spoilers for the final two Harry Potter films. Joshua Herdman, who plays Draco Malfoy's goonish right hand man Goyle, confirmed rumors that the split between the two films will occur just after Ron, Hermione and Harry are captured by the Snatchers, and the second film will start at Malfoy Manor. The real surprise for me, though, came with the news that the actor who plays Crabbe, Jamie Waylett, was arrested for marijuana possession a few months ago, and won't be in the Deathly Hallows »

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows' Split Point Seems To Be Confirmed

21 August 2009 8:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

As most magic-loving Muggles know, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" -- the final installment in J.K. Rowling's seven book series -- will be split into two pieces for its upcoming movie adaptation. There have long been suggestions and assumptions about where that split might lie. Last we heard, director David Yates had "three or four different ideas" about where the break should be.

Now we have what looks to be confirmation, though it's important to remember the old adage that "looks can be deceiving" in this particular case. Joshua Herdman, who plays Slytherin crony Goyle in the films, broke the news in a Q&A held in the UK several weeks ago. "Potter" fansite MuggleNet is quick to point out that "the director and producers have made it clear that they could very well change" the split point, so take all of this for what it's worth. Second Potter Star Caught Smoking Marijuana?

18 August 2009 6:31 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The Harry Potter franchise is at the centre of another drug drama - a second star has been photographed smoking what appears to be marijuana.

Pictures of Josh Herdman, who has played bully Gregory Goyle in all of the Potter movies, puffing what appears to be a joint have appeared in U.K. tabloid The Sun.

The picture was taken while the 20-year-old star was holidaying in Amsterdam, Holland, where it is legal to smoke cannabis, last year.

A source tells the newspaper, "Josh sees himself as one of the boys. He'll join in with whatever anyone's doing - but some fans might be shocked."

The images come shortly after fellow Potter star Jamie Waylett narrowly avoided prison after he was caught in possession of several bags of marijuana.

He was sentenced to community service after pleading guilty to drug charges in July. »

Harry Potter Actor Caught Growing Marijuana

A judge has sentenced a cast member of the "Harry Potter" films to 120 hours of community service for growing marijuana. 20-year-old Jamie Waylett, who plays school bully Vincent Crabbe in the magical movie franchise, pleaded guilty to producing the drug at a court hearing last week. Prosecutors say police found 10 marijuana plants growing in a bedroom at Waylett's mother's London house. Producing cannabis carries a maximum 14-year sentence. Judge Timothy Workman said Tuesday that he accepted the cultivation was on a small scale and for Waylett's own use. He said the actor had been, "until now, a man of good character." »

Waylett Escapes Jail Sentence

21 July 2009 9:06 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Harry Potter actor Jamie Waylett has avoided a lengthy jail spell - he's been sentenced to community service after pleading guilty to drug charges.

The 19 year old, who plays bully Vincent Crabbe in the boy wizard franchise, was arrested in April after police pulled over his car and caught him in possession of several bags of marijuana.

A raid on his home in Camden, north London uncovered 10 cannabis plants and he was charged with illegal production of a Class-b drug.

Waylett confessed to the crime earlier this month and faced up to 14 years behind bars.

But he was given a lucky break when he appeared for sentencing at London's Westminster Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning - he was handed 120 hours of community service.

Judge Timothy Workman accepted that Waylett's production had been "small scale" and had been growing the pot plants for his own use.

He also declared the actor was essentially a man of "good character" and let him off with a less severe punishment. »

According to Reuters, District judge Timothy Workman, speaking in front of the City of Westminster Magistrates Court, told the 20-year-old actor, "I accept that the cultivation of this cannabis was on a small scale, and this was not in any way a commercial venture on your part. Nevertheless, you used a sophisticated growing system to do so.
