Jet frontman Nic Cester thinks Sir Paul McCartney was the most talented Beatle. The Australian rocker is in awe of the 67-year-old star's musicianship and thinks it is wrong his bass playing is often overshadowed and his vocals "underrated" compared to his Fab Four contemporaries John Lennon and George Harrison. He said: "He has an innate sense of melody that is quite unique to him. It is easy to overlook his bass-playing because of his other contributions to music, like his songwriting. He's a pretty underrated singer, too. He could cross between ballads and rockers without breaking a sweat." Another of Nic's musical heroes is Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, and he would have him in his dream band. He »

Fran Curtis, a spokesperson for The Rolling Stones is quick to respond to rumor suggesting drummer Charlie Watts is no longer the band's member. "Contrary to a fabricated story that ran this morning on a small music web site in Australia, drummer Charlie Watts has not left The Rolling Stones," Fran told Billboard.
The speculation that Charlie quit the band was outed by Australian web, Undercover. The online publication claimed the drummer will be replaced by Charlie Drayton who had solo projects with the band's guitarist Keith Richards.
Charlie Watts joined The Rolling Stones in 1963. His contributions to the band included designing their tour stages and merchandises. He is also considered as the key member of the band due to his jazz-influenced drumming style. This rock band haven't released any studio effort since their poor-selling album "A Bigger Bang" was dropped in 2005. »

The ageing rockers - made up of frontman Sir Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood - have been named the world's most expensive wedding act, ahead of Sir Elton John and Kylie Minogue who only demand £2 million to play at nuptials. Shine A Light: The Long Haul Of Marty, Mick & "Keef"
An essay by Jon Zelazny
This article first appeared at EightMillionStories.com on April 18, 2008.
Martin Scorsese appears on-camera in the pre-concert scenes of Shine a Light, his only obvious personal touch to a concert film that’s generally indistinguishable from your average HBO special. Scorsese has made some wonderful documentaries over the years, and at this stage in his career, I look forward to his pet projects more than his Hollywood features, but when measured against gems like ItalianAmerican and The Last Waltz, or even the tutorial My Voyage to Italy, Shine a Light is easily the least impressive work of Scorsese’s non-fiction career… which isn’t to say it’s a boring movie, or somehow not worth the price of even an IMAX ticket, because The Rolling Stones are indisputably world-class entertainers, and don’t require any »

Ronnie Wood faces being axed from the Rolling Stones because of his drinking.
The 61-year-old rocker - who has been treated for alcoholism several times over the last 30 years - has been warned to curb his partying or risk being banned from a proposed autumn tour of America with bandmates Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts.
A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "All the band have to have a compulsory pre-tour medical to make sure they can get insurance."
"Ronnie failed his medical for the 2002/2003 tour because he was drinking seven times the recommended number of alcohol units a week. He had to spend months drying out at a clinic in Arizona."
