Trailer - Harrison Ford in the Immigration Drama 'Crossing Over'

13 November 2008 2:14 AM, PST | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

On first glance, the new drama Crossing Over looks a lot like Crash with an immigration message. And maybe it's just me, but it kind of looks that way on second glace, too.

That's not to say this looks bad or anything, just that it rings a pretty familiar bell. You've got to admire the cast - Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, and Jim Sturgess lead the ensemble for director Wayne Kramer (The Cooler, Running Scared). The film made headlines recently for being dropped from The Weinstein Company's 2008 schedule, along with several others, to be repositioned in 2009.

Trailer courtesy of Movie Web

Yeah, it's kind of tough to make a movie looking for answers about a subject that itself is looking for answers. Although Crossing Over has been bumped back a bit, we don't know exactly when it's coming out. When we get a release date, we'll let you know.

13 November 2008 1:12 AM, PST | From TheMovingPicture.net | See recent TheMovingPicture news

Yahoo has debuted the first trailer for the Harrison Ford drama Crossing Over. Written and directed by Wayne Kramer (Running Scared, The Cooler), the film features an ensemble cast that includes Jim Sturgess, Ashley Judd, Alicia Braga, Alice Eve and Ray Liotta. Opening in January, Crossing Over is the story of immigrants from around the world living in Los Angeles, with hopeful visions of a better life, but little notion of what that life may cost. Their desperate scenarios test the humanity of immigration enforcement officers, played by Ford and Liotta.

'Crossing Over' Trailer Arrives

12 November 2008 7:11 PM, PST | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

"Crossing Over", the drama movie that teams up Harrison Ford, Ashley Judd, Sean Penn and Ray Liotta, has welcomed its first trailer. Telling the stories of hopeful immigrants and the immigration enforcement officers, the trailer presents the problems faced by both the immigrants entering Los Angeles in search of better life and the officers working with them.

This Weinstein Company movie follows the struggles of different nationalities' immigrants in achieving legal status in Los Angeles. Showing the reality the immigrants find when they try to create their own American dream, it deals with the border, document fraud, the asylum and green card process, work-site enforcement, naturalization, the office of counter terrorism and the clash of cultures.

"Crossing Over" comes from "Running Scared" director/writer Wayne Kramer, who is also an immigrant from South America himself. Apart from Harrison Ford, Ashley Judd, Sean Penn and Ray Liotta, it is also supported by Jim Sturgess,

From Yahoo! Movies comes the first trailer for Wayne Kramer’s drama “Crossing Over,” which stars Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Jim Sturgess, Alice Eve and Alice Braga.

Kramer calls “Crossing Over” a multi-character canvas about immigrants of different nationalities struggling to achieve legal status in Los Angeles.

I have to admit the trailer after the jump is pretty emotional. It sure had me intrigued.

While we would never explore the complex issue of the fashion origin of Robert Pattinsons hair style nor speculate about his sudden change of attitude towards his fans especially while coming out of an airplane and arriving at a distant airport you can always expect something substantial even challenging that would make you participate and comment on our Rob article hopefully that is! Who really is Hollywoods next big thing? The question that seems to be gaining more momentum each day is Are fans getting ahead of themselves and already proclaiming Rob Pattinson as the next big thing? Whats the proof that hes really the

It's one of a few questions we want to discuss: should today's emerging young actors - - Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron, Shia Labeouf, Jim Sturgess, Emile Hirsch, Daniel Radcliffe, and Paul Dano - - follow (or pattern) their career paths along the lines of successful actors ahead of them? Or are some of them already making similar patterns? - - - - - - Some Remarkable Career Paths: looking back at how some successful actors started out in acting. Spider-Man, her new show - extravaganza, really - whose budget has ballooned to $40 million, making it the most expensive production in theater history. Some of the people involved (there are dozens and dozens, with more being added daily) are starting to blanch at the price tag. With straight faces, a few are running around town saying things like: Well, it's $40 million now, but we think we can get it down to $35 million. - - - - - - That's the blurb of New York Post's Michael Riedel (http://www.nypost.com/seven/10082008/entertainment/theater/taymors_web_of_riches_132605.htm). Jim Sturgess

12 October 2008 9:29 AM, PDT | From The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news

On the Cutting Edge tMF Spotlights one of the UK’s most exciting and talented young actors, Jim Sturgess! British actors come at acting from a slightly different angle, Sturgess says. Because a lot of the films are cast out there, they are so used to the angle, from which the Americans, and certainly the young guys from La, are coming at it, that I think it's interesting for them to find these English actors who maybe approach acting from a different place. That’s Jim Sturgess (http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/film-and-tv/features/the-britpack--our-new-generation-of-movie-stars-takes-tinseltown-841199.html) for you. - - - - - - If there’s one actor who has captured the imagination of Hollywood with such intensity, then it’s Jim Sturgess. The young actor is phenomenal, for Chrissakes! If you're a bonafide fan of young actors, its time for you to watch Mr. Foe and demand for more of Jamie Bell. Rose McGowan Angers Producers With IRA Comments

18 September 2008 4:20 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Rose McGowan is in hot water with her producers of the new film Fifty Dead Men Walking. While the film was making the rounds in Toronto last week, McGowan told reporters that she would have joined the Irish Republican Army if she had been in Belfast at that time. Rose added that she understands why many in Northern Ireland resorted to violence during their conflict with England.

Fifty Dead Men Walking depicts Martin McGartland's infiltration into the IRA in the late 1980s and also his torture at the hands of the group once his cover was blown. Because these things run deep, McGartland is still in hiding, having escaped from IRA capture in 1991. He was later shot multiple times, allegedly by the IRA, in 1999, before being relocated again.

So you could see why producers of a film that calls itself "an even, nonjudgmental" account of those events might feel

WB Digs Rocker's 'Karma'

11 September 2008 6:02 PM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Plenty of musicians have made the transfer from the recording studio to the silver screen, and with varying results. But, it probably isn't so common to see a rock star who's willing to stay behind the scenes. The Hollywood Reporter announced that WB has picked up The Karma Coalition, a spec script written by rocker Shawn Christensen. Christensen is probably best known for his work as lead singer of Stellastar, an indie rock outfit that's toured with Jane's Addiction and The Killers.

According to THR, "The story centers on a professor who engages in a game of cat and mouse with a corrupt detective after he's told his dead wife of five years might still be alive. He uncovers the existence of a secret organization responsible for faking her death but suffers the consequences of that knowledge." The project was written by Christensen and his partner, Jason Dolan. Dan Lin

Aniston, meanwhile, will be talking up Management, a romantic comedy in which she's wooed by Steve Zahn and Woody Harrelson. Tiff Watch: Sturgess / Kingsley Spy Flick Controversy

Filed under: Drama, Independent, Thrillers, Toronto International Film Festival, Cinematical Indie

Do you really want to get an Ira mole mad? British spy drama Fifty Dead Men Walking has stirred the ire of Martin McGartland, its real-life inspiration, according to The Hollywood Reporter. McGartland "threatened legal action against the Canadian-British co-production ... on grounds that the feature infringes his moral rights." On the same day that McGartland made his threat, a scheduled press screening was canceled by Canadian distributor Tva Films, which claimed "a print problem."

The film is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff) on September 10 -- a splashy, red carpet Gala Presentation. But McGartland says that the film "is an entirely false and distorted account of what took place." He is also "reserving all [his] legal rights and remedies in this matter." But one has to wonder -- didn't he already sign off by selling the film rights?

They have the acting chops – that's the No 1 thing – and then they have physical appeal. Handsome young men who can act? While she mentions Ben Barnes and Jim Sturgess among those making waves in Tinseltown right now, she apparently fails to mention one particular name - Robert Pattinson. The Twilight lead star seems to have the most ardent fan following and while I might be construed as being biased - and why not? He's the one winning our poll with thousands of votes! - there is certainly lots of evidence all over the web that he is very popular.

DVD Review: 21 (2-Disc Special Edition)

16 July 2008 4:34 AM, PDT | From Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

Adapted from Ben Mezrich's fairly entertaining book about six MIT students who won millions playing blackjack in Vegas, 21 has a concept good enough to make a movie that would be, at the very least, pretty fun. As we have all learned by now, and will further witness today, good concepts don't always make for good movies. Inspired by the true story to about the same extent that The Wackness is inspired by my life (and I'm not even talking about the white-washing), 21 wastes no time sucking. After a pre-title tease that serves no purpose other than to trick the audience into thinking they're headed into something edgy with Jim Sturgess' non-ironic narration of the phrase "Winner, winner, chicken dinner" and pointlessly set up the film's half-assed flashback structure, we're properly brought into the movie's idiotic world.
