A former bobsleigh champion, he has been an exhibited photographer for 40 years and is now an enthusiast for astrology, author of "Akte Astrologie".

Rolf was the son of his second marriage, to Anne-Marie Faure, who died in a traffic accident in 1958. He has two sons, Christian and Claus Alexander, from his third marriage, to model Mirja Larsson (Mirja Sachs).

Son and heir of Willy Sachs, proprietor of Fichtel & Sachs motor works, he is one of the 100 richest men in Germany.

President of the Modern Art Museum in Munich from 1965 to 1972. Good friends with Andy Warhol and Salvador Dalí.

The German media consider him the country's last real "playboy".
