Since the early 1990s, he has also been a successful singer.

Due to the difficult pronunciation of his name in English, he was credited as Uwe Oxenknecht in some US productions.

As cheese is his favorite food, some of the salary for appearing on a Swiss TV commercial for cheese was paid in cheese.
