Larger than life leading lady on stage and television, latterly familiar on television in serials such as "The Flying Doctors" (1985) and "Close to Home" (1975). Born Patricia Blamires in 1924, she delighted audiences for more than five decades in her native country and Australia. Active on stage until failing eyesight in her early seventies forced her to retire from the profession.
