This weekend the streets around the Excel Centre in East London were filled with geeks, gamers, movie-buffs and cos-players, as the McM Expo once more rolled into town.
It’s still a fairly intimate affair, but since its inception in 2002 the Expo has grown from a collectors’ show into a genuinely important, biannual event for the UK anime, comic, computer game and film industries.
One of the highlights of the show this time round was Optimum Releasing’s promotion for their forthcoming film, The Losers.
Based on the comic by writer Andy Diggle and artist Jock, the film tells the story of a team of Special Forces operatives who are turned on by their CIA handlers. The comic itself is a re-jig of a World War II-set comic that ran during the seventies and early eighties.
During the course of the day, Optimum provided Expo attendees with various treats, including »

The big guns came out for Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey are executive producers, and when they attach themselves to a project, people listen.
Click Here to read Nick Allen’s review of Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire
But before we get to interviews with them plus the author Sapphire and the film’s cast Mo’ Nique, Gabourey Sidibe and Mariah Carey, let’s talk about this title.
Ok, I get it. You couldn’t call the movie Push, because that title was just used earlier this year in the sci-fi flick starring Dakota Fanning and Chris Evans.
But what’s wrong with calling it Precious and leaving it at that? With the marketing blitz this film is sure to get (from Oprah alone), how many people will only read a title, and strictly base whether they will see »

It’s a slow week for movie releases, with Fantastic Mr. Fox the only release of note in the UK, along with Cirque Du Freak. Most of the remaining big films this year are due out in November and December.
So, with the big winter films already hyped to the max, and with Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans and Robin Hood being the highly anticipated movies this Spring, I thought i’d take a look at some Spring movies that maybe aren’t getting the attention they deserve – The Losers, Green Zone, A Couple of Dicks, Machete and Kick-Ass. Note, this is a list of the films i’m personally looking forward to, so you won’t necessarily agree with me…
When is it? – 9th April.
Where is it? – Currently filming in Puerto Rico
Who is it? – Directed by Sylvain White, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, »

In "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," Chris Evans plays skateboarder-turned-actor Lucas Lee, one of the evil ex-boyfriends Scott Pilgrim must battle in order to win the heart of Ramona Flowers. While I don't want to spoil the film for anyone who hasn't read Bryan Lee O'Malley's amazing series, it shouldn't be a surprise that Evans' character will, at some point, engage in some skating.
So, when we caught up with Evans recently, we had to ask him whether he took to board easily, or if he has a nasty case of road rash to remember the film.
"They put me in a few weeks of stunt training with a guy who made skateboarding look easy as pie," said Evans. "It was an uphill battle."
"I got comfortable enough shooting, but then of course, on the day of shooting, it all went out the window and I embarrassed myself miserably, »

When you get a look at this pic of Zoe Saldana from the set of The Losers, you can understand why I look forward to it. Saldana is playing the role of Aisha, who joins the crew of Losers, Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Roque (Idris Elba), Pooch (Columbus Short), Jensen (Chris Evans), and Cougar (Oscar Jaenada). All the members join together to take down mastermind Max (Jason Patric) who organized the assassination of Aisha's Father. The comics creator Andy Diggle says Saldana is perfect for... »

Oh, EW. Why, oh why? They get all these exclusive movie images and all they do is post shitty medium-sized versions of them on their site. What are they trying to save, bandwidth? Geez, I’ll never understand these people. Anyways, here’s your first look at Zoe Saldana in costume as Aisha in the upcoming comic book movie “The Losers”. The film co-stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, and Oscar Jaenada as former Special Forces soldiers who band together to take down the douchebag CIA agent (Jason Patric) who betrayed them and left them for dead. Our gang of merry men (and one hot woman) take the fight back to the CIA in an attempt to get someone’s attention. Blowing stuff up usually helps to do that. And the rest of losers: »

Zoe Saldana has been set to play Middle-Eastern hellion Aisha in "The Losers", and Entertainment Weekly has nailed the first look at the "Star Trek" actress in character. The first photo of the lone female member of the group was taken from the set, presenting the 31-year-old in costume which is completed with eyebrow piercing and tied-back hair.
Speaking about the casting of Saldana for the part, writer Andy Diggle who wrote the series opened up, "Aisha has to be deadly and desirable in equal measure, and Zoe embodies both qualities in spades." He furthermore added by promising, "Trust me, you've never seen her kick ass the way she does in The Losers!"
Based on the comic book series published by the Vertigo, "The Losers" has "Stomp the Yard" helmer Sylvain White taking the director's chair. Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt provide the script. Jeffrey Dean Morgan stars as Clay, »

The folks at Entertainment Weekly are known for keeping things small, so here is a small photo of Zoe Saldana on the set of Sylvain White's "The Losers," based on the graphic novel by Andy Diggle and Jock.
The film follows a team of black ops commandos trying to survive are after learning their own government has planned to kill them. Chris Evans, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba and Columbus Short star.
Now, Saldana plays Aisha, a mysterious hellion who teams up with the gang. Although she's definitely capable of playing a badass fighter, she looks just darn innocent and sweet in the photo below, no? »

The hooker with a heart of gold is a Hollywood staple, but usually when we're talking about the 'pay to play' types, we're dealing with the female species. So who better to take a role as 'man candy' than Chris Evans? I mean, just look to your right -- is it any surprise he's the crush of girls and guys everywhere? In an interview with Prestige, Sharon Stone told them she would be working with Evans in the somewhat poorly named drama, Satisfaction, where Evans will play a male prostitute whose career has hit the skids.
According to Stone, the story will center on Evans' character as he's beginning to lose his cache with his agency, but when he hooks up with a new client (played by Stone), his career soon begins to take off again. This is no Pretty Woman tale, though, because what starts off as a partnership »

Fantastic Four actor Chris Evans is trading in his superhero status to become a gigolo in a new Sharon Stone movie.
The pair is set to star in new drama Satisfaction, about a male prostitute who develops a relationship with an older woman, played by Stone.
She tells Prestige magazine, "You think they have legitimately fallen in love, by his behaviour and her behaviour, until the call-out service starts sending him out again while he's with her.
"He starts trying to break her down. And it's incredible what they do together: a very, very fascinating journey."
Satisfaction will be directed by Anya Camilleri and shooting will begin in January in London and Rome, Italy. »

Zoe Saldana is on a hot streak right now and it isn’t just because she’s hot. Hot off her victory as Uhura in “Star Trek”, Saldana still has “Avatar” at the end of the year, “Star Trek II” in her future, and in April 2010 she’ll be in the adaptation of the Vertigo comic series, “The Losers”. Saldana plays Aisha, “a mysterious South American hellion,” who joins forces with a burned CIA team (comprised of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, and Oscar Jaenada) to take down a common enemy played by Jason Patric. The first set photo of Saldana has just landed online so that’s why she’s smiling instead of being in character and scowling like her comic-counterpart. Check out the photo after the jump and click here to see a photo of the burned CIA team where Jeffrey Dean Morgan forgot to wear his wife-beater. »

Don't let the smile fool you: Here's what Zoe Saldana looks like as a complete bad ass. Because that's what she's playing in The Losers, Warner Bros.' adaptation of the Vertigo comic book series -- written by Andy Diggle and drawn by Jock -- which follows a band of disavowed intelligence operatives trying to claw their way back into the world, by any means necessary. And some of those means involve massive amounts of property damage. Due in theaters in April of 2010, The Losers finds the once-and-future Uhura taking on the role of Aisha, a mysterious South American hellion »

Sharon Stone and Chris Evans have signed on to star in Satisfaction, a drama about a male prostitute and the older lady who looks after him. How do we know this? Because Stone herself blabbed about it to Prestige magazine (sadly, not an offshoot of Dale Doback and Brennan Huff’s Prestige Worldwide).Evans will play a gigolo who becomes involved with an older lady, all while going through a traumatic relationship with his agency. Stone, we’re guessing, will play the older lady.“You think they have legitimately fallen in love, by his behaviour and her behaviour,” Stone told Prestige, “until the call-out service starts sending him out again while he's with her. He starts trying to break her down. And it's incredible what they do together: a very, very fascinating journey."So, is it an opposite-sex Midnight Cowboy for the Noughties? A riff on The Graduate? We shared the first images of the Warner Brothers’ film The Losers a little over a month ago. Now, thanks to the power of Twitter, we have a new image from the set of the film. Actor Idris Elba (The Wire) tweeted the picture, which features himself, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, Óscar Jaenada and Jeffrey Dean Morgan looking appropriately bad-ass as they wait on the film’s Puerto Rican set.
The Losers, which also features Star Trek’s Zoe Saldana, revolves around an ex-cia Black Ops team who seek revenge against the mysterious Max (played by Jason Patric), their former handler and the man who betrayed them. The film is based on the Eisner-nominated DC/Vertigo comic book series of the same name, which ran from 2003 to 2006.

Sylvain White's big comic book adaptation of The Losers has been shooting in Puerto Rico for the last few months. It's one of a few comic book adaptations coming up next year that I'm looking forward to quite a bit, namely because the cast is so awesome. Thanks to Idris Elba's Twitter (via Collider), we now have our very first unofficial look at five of the Losers in costume on the set in Puerto Rico. From left to right, you'll see: Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, Oscar Jaenada, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Sure it's not much, but I think this looks cool, and I'm already getting excited for this just seeing basic shots like this. Take a look! Originally a Special Forces team seconded to the CIA in the 90s, the Losers were betrayed by their handler, Max, and left for dead following the conclusion of their operation. »
