Secret Identity: Five Actors Who Could Play Hawkeye In Marvel's 'Avengers' Movie

3 December 2009 1:32 PM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Unless actor Jeremy Renner is getting his information from a parallel universe, it's sounding likely that Hawkeye has a role in Marvel's upcoming movie slate. Still, even Renner is quick to admit that while he's discussed the role with Marvel, he's not a lock for the part.

Assuming the role exists and is still available, it's worth wondering what type of actor would be best-suited for Clint Barton. I don't think the part requires an action hero body, though an athletic physique is a must. Barton also has to be equal parts charming and arrogant without sacrificing his heroic qualities — and he's got to be awesome with a bow and arrow, but that's where pre-production training comes in!

Keeping those prerequisites in mind, I think the following five actors would be right on the mark for Hawkeye.

'The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond' Trailer Emerges With A Pre-'Eclipse' Bryce Dallas Howard

1 December 2009 12:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Ah, Tennessee Williams. It's always encouraging to see your plays adapted for the silver screen. There's "The Glass Menagerie." And "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." And of course "A Streetcar Named Desire," which has been both adapted and spoofed so many times, I've lost count.

Now we have "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," a work which I'm not terribly familiar with. It's apparently a "lost screenplay" of Williams', starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Evans. I'm not blown away by this trailer, but my parents actually caught a recent advance screening of "Diamond," and they thought it was quite good. So there's that. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself.

We also interviewed Chris Evans at last year's Toronto International Film Festival. "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond" is a new drama based on a recently rediscovered original screenplay by legendary writer Tennessee Williams. First Images From The Losers aka Zoe Saldana is a Gun-Packing Babe

30 November 2009 10:03 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Warner Bros. has released the first two official images from their upcoming adaptation of the Vertigo comic book “The Losers”. The film stars Zoe Saldana, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, and Jason Patric, with everyone but Patric playing members of a CIA black ops unit that’s betrayed and left for dead, only to resurface with a vengeance. Patric, it appears, will play the scummy CIA guy behind the betrayal. And let’s face it, Jason Patric just has the face and the disposition for such a role. The film is due out in April 9, 2010 from Sylvain White, the guy who did “Stomp the Yard”. Yeah. Official synopsis: Action Thriller. An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, “The Losers” centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team-Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch »

'The Losers' Movie Update: New Photos And Jeffrey Dean Morgan Interview Hit The 'Net

30 November 2009 8:44 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

While we were throttled down for the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S., bunches of news was hitting the wire about director Sylvain's White's upcoming adaptation of "The Losers."

Along with a pair of new photos that debuted on Omelete featuring much of the film's the all-star cast and a solo shot of "Star Trek" and "Avatar" actress Zoe Saldana as the team's resident loose cannon, Aisha, the online world also received some thoughts about the film from one of its most prominent stars, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, courtesy of a FilmInk interview.

"I've been hurt since Day One," said Morgan of the bruising (literally) experience of playing Clay, the leader of the left-for-dead special ops team out to find the agent who wronged them. "I'm getting a little old for bouncing off the pavement. Some stuff is hard when you're forty — but there's nothing that I can't recover from. »

Is Jeremy Renner Playing Hawkeye In 'The Avengers' And 'Thor'?

30 November 2009 5:31 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

As Marvel Studios ramps up plans for "The Avengers," many fans are wondering which characters outside of Captain America, Thor and Iron Man will wind up on the team's roster — and if one actor's comments are any indication, the superhero group will have a place for Hawkeye come 2012.

In an interview with Empire, actor Jeremy Renner revealed that he's discussed playing the comic book archer in Kenneth Branagh's "Thor" and, later, "The Avengers." The intriguing rumor surfaced when Renner was asked whether he'd be interested in playing Captain America, a potentially natural fit given the actor's role as an American soldier earlier this year in "The Hurt Locker."

"I don't know if I'd be right for Captain America," he said. "I met with the Marvel guys, actually, but we didn't talk about Captain America. But one of the writers, Zak Penn, we've become friends over time and he was »

Zoe Saldana Keeps it Serious in The Losers

28 November 2009 8:07 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

The fine Spanish-speaking folks at Omelete have unleashed the first official photos from director Sylvain White's The Losers, a DC Comics adaptation about a team of sexy CIA black ops agents who are betrayed, then left for dead. Now they must band together and kick some ass on their way to finding those responsible for their attempted assassination. Written by Andy Diggle and illustrated, for the most part, by Jock, The Losers comic ran for 32 issues from August 2003 to March 2006. The idea was very loosely based on the original Losers for DC Comics, a group of World War II soldiers, although Andy Diggle maintains he has never read a single issue of the original series. He's very Werner Herzog like that. The image above shows Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar) sporting two guns and something slinky, whereas the image below shows the rest of the crew. From the left we have Saldana as Aisha, Chris Evans »

Gaze Upon 'The Losers' and 'Jonah Hex'!

26 November 2009 7:32 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

At last, some comic book news that isn't centered around Batman or Spider-Man! Omelete got their hands on some official images from two of Warner Bros' upcoming comic flicks, Jonah Hex and The Losers.

We've seen paparazzi glimpses from the Hex set of Megan Fox and Josh Brolin, but there's nothing like a well-lit and spooky shot, especially when your actor looks good enough to have walked off the page. If you're a fan of the haunted gunslinger and are unconvinced, you might be comforted by the sight of his Confederate gray and mangled lip. I can't say how excited I am for this film. Jonah Hex is a character who has more in common with High Plains Drifter than the capes and superpower crowd, and I think that will surprise and delight a lot of "newbies" who still equate DC Comics with Batman.

Next up, we have our first official look at The Losers! »

Exclusive Interview Fantastic Mr Fox

25 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST | MoviesOnline.ca | See recent MoviesOnline news »

Huzzah! An interview! You're old friend The Dude isn't afforded the opportunity to conduct a lot of interviews. Mostly because whenever I do, I ask bizarre questions, such as the time when I asked Jessica Alba for her fries, or the time I tried to ask Chris Evans for his cheese platter. (My ultimate goal is to get all members of the Fantastic Four to give me food stuffs, and speak honestly about it). However, when the chance presents itself to interview, I will gladly take it, then do something strange with it.

Wes Anderson was the gracious victim kind enough to grant me a one-on-one interview with him this time around. We were supposed to discuss Fantastic Mr. Fox. These are the questions I asked him instead. Seriously.

To reiterate, those are seriously the questions I asked. (The dubbing was to give the Eagle a more noble voice). And »

First Official Pictures From 'Jonah Hex' and 'The Losers' Unveiled

A look at the lead character of upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures' film "Jonah Hex" has been found by Omelete. On Wednesday, November 25, the site has posted an image which features Josh Brolin as the titular character. Though the photo gives a close-up look at him, his face cannot be seen clearly as his eyes are hidden under a cowboy hat that he wears.

On the same day, the site has also shared two pictures from another Warner Bros.' movie, "The Losers". The first image captures Zoe Saldana's Aisha holding a gun on each hand. Additionally, Aisha and more characters, such as Chris Evans' Jensen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Clay, Columbus Short's Pooch, Idris Elba's Roque, and Oscar Jaenada's Cougar are shown in the other photo.

First Official Photos of The Losers

25 November 2009 6:00 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Two photos from Warner Bros. comic book adaptation The Losers have made their way online.

The film’s log line is as follows:

After being betrayed and left for dead, members of a CIA black ops team root out those who targeted them for assassination.

Click the images to enlarge.

Whilst the comic itself is quite cool and the talented cast includes Jeffery Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Idris Elba (RocknRolla), Chris Evans (Sunshine), Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Jason Patric (The Lost Boys), and Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid), I have been very skeptical about this project since Sylvain White took over directing duties.

If you are not familiar with White’s work, he is the man responsible for the atrocities known as Stomp the Yard and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. I will reserve judgement on The Losers until I actually watch the film, or at least a trailer, »

First Look: Official Photos from The Losers and Jonah Hex

25 November 2009 2:14 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

A few new photos for your viewing pleasure today. Our Brazilian friends from Omelete have scored the first photos from The Losers, the DC Comics adaptation being directed by Sylvain White, and Jonah Hex, the other DC Comics adaptation being directed by Jimmy Hayward. We've seen photos for both of these movies before (here and here), but those photos were all unofficial shots from the sets. These are officially released photos and they all look pretty damn cool. That Jonah Hex one seems like it'd be better as a poster, but it's cool either way. And, of course, The Losers don't look anything like losers to me. Anyway, check 'em out! From left to right: Zoe Saldana as Aisha, Chris Evans as Jensen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Clay, Columbus Short as Pooch, Idris Elba as Roque, and Óscar Jaenada as Cougar. Plus there's another shot of Saldana. Seen below is »

Warner Bros has released the first official photos from Sylvain White's big screen adaptation of the Vertigo label comic book The Losers, thanks to Omelete. Originally published as a war comic feature set during World War II, The Losers was later re-imagined set against the events surrounding the war on terror. The Vertigo imprint version ran for 32 issues from 2003 to 2006. The Losers tells the story of a former Special Forces team who were betrayed by their handler Max, and left for dead following the conclusion of their operation. The team were forced to regroup and enter on a mission of revenge against Max, who has been using the CIA for his own interests. More photos after the jump. The film adaptation stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, Oscar Jaenada, Jason Patric, and Peter Macdissi. First Two Official Images and the Synopsis from Sylvain White’s The Losers

25 November 2009 11:30 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first two official images and the synopsis from Sylvain White’s The Losers have hit the web.  Both images are typical first look shots in that they don’t tell you anything about the movie except show you what actors are in it.  While I hate boring images like these, I understand launching with them and then getting to the action shots as it gets closer to release.

If you’re not familiar with the movie, the film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Jason Patric, Óscar Jaenada, Idris Elba, Zoë Saldana and Columbus Short.  It’s based on the comic by Andy Diggle and Jock.  Here’s the just released synopsis:

Action Thriller. An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, “The Losers” centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team-Clay, »

The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond Trailer

25 November 2009 9:27 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Having recently heard about this movie for the first time, I wondered why it seems so much like a secret. The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond is made from a Tennessee Williams screenplay that Elia Kazan never produced. It would almost be like finding a long dormant Mozart piece. Well, that’s not a perfect analogy, since a screenplay merely provides the structure. But then again, how did a director whose only directing credit is a short 1998 film called Why I Live at the P.O. come into possession of it? Apparently, it was found amongst the author’s papers in 1983 and was acquired by a film company called Paladin. That’s all that a quick Google search will yield. Coming Soon has the exclusive trailer for the film, which stars Bryce Dallas Howard in 1920s Memphis as Fisher Willow, a woman of high class who is frustrated by the corruption around her. »

Finally some official photos from The Losers! Even though I haven't read the comic yet, I've been pretty psyched about this since I heard about the cast. It might have been Jason Patric that was really doing something for me, especially since he's being paired with Idris Elba. Of course the rest of the cast is great as well: Zoe Saldana, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, and Columbus Short. Oh, and I don't know if I've mentioned it but Ralph Macchio is in the film as well. The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond Trailer #1: Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Evans Do Tennessee Williams

25 November 2009 7:46 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

I'd known about a long-lost Tennessee Williams script being filmed, but had basically forgotten about The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond until the gorgeous poster debuted not long ago. A Williams screenplay, a cast with a few names I like (Chris Evans and Ellen Burstyn, for example) and a period setting? Ok, I figure I could give that a chance. But the first domestic trailer for the film doesn't do it all that many favors. Indulge your curiosity after the break. ComingSoon has the trailer as an exclusive; there's already been a sales trailer promoting the picture. I've seen a few writers wondering why we haven't heard much about the film up until now, given the legacy of the screenplay (lost Tennessee Williams should be pretty big) and the name value of the cast. It was at TIFF08, but didn't make much of a splash. I'd expect that the basic »
