He played Bassanio in two separate productions of "The Merchant of Venice", the 1970 Old Vic production with Laurence Olivier as Shylock, and an earlier complete production, recorded by Caedmon Records on a 3-LP set, with Hugh Griffith as Shylock. The 1970 production was telecast in the U.S. in 1973.
