Crossover stunts have become as ubiquitous as season-ending character deaths. And let's face it, more times than not they're probably conceived at a network marketing retreat instead of inside a writers room — which is probably why many of them come off feeling like blatant ratings-boosting promotional gimmicks. But I'm here to tell you that this week's NCIS/NCIS: LA mash-up is different, and I can give you at least two reasons why. First off, it revolves around the undeniably awesome Pauley Perrette. And second, because it results in the first face-to-face encounter between Abby and Linda Hunt's Hetty »

There's a city-wide blackout on tonight's episode of NCIS, so when the team literally finds themselves in the dark, quite literally. They're investigating the death of a lieutenant and an attempted robbery, and somehow, this is connected to the power outage.
What does this mean? This means, all of Abby's (Pauley Perrette) high-tech gadgets are for naught, and everyone's trying to approach the case just like they do in the olden times - of course, reference to Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) age will be a running joke.

For a quote-unquote procedural military crime drama, NCIS has some pretty awesome characters. This was our lasting impression from last night's terrific episode, "Endgame."
Case in point: Leon Vance.
The NCIS director may not strike you as particularly interesting at first glance, but the back story and family components we were introduced to last night left us wanting more.
Vance and his weird connection to North Korean sniper Kai, who killed his partner in 1992, fueled the episode, which ended with the two facing off, guns drawn, at his house.
Despite dreaming of taking her out for 17 years, he couldn't do it following Gibbs' revelation that Kai was merely out to punish the North Koreans who made her what she is.
Kai was basically on a suicide mission, and after killing two men in the U.S. responsible for her assassin training (thus sparking the NCIS investigation), she came to Vance. »

NCIS is not short on great guest stars. Most recently, the drama announced that Robert Wagner would appear as Tony's father on the show's 150th episode.
Now, it's been revealed that a well-known, vertically-challenged actress is also coming on board the top-rated show on TV.
Meredith Eaton - who has appeared on CSI and House; and who enjoyed an extended run on Boston Legal - will portray Abby's former college friend and fellow lab tech on an upcoming installment. She'll visit Abby for advice.
Pauley Perrette (Abby) and Eaton are close friends in real life. »

What's coming up on Vampire Diaries? — Monique
Mickey: Witches and vampires aren't the only supernatural creatures in Mystic Falls. It won't be right away, but a major male character will reveal himself to be a werewolf. And don't think having read the books will help you figure this one out. In fact, the werewolf in question won't even know he's a werewolf, initially at least.

Missed NCIS last week? At least tonight's episode looks to be a good one, when Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) job appears to be in jeopardy with his former mentor Mike Franks is involved in a murder investigation - although we know they can't fire Gibbs right? Would they dare? On "Outlaws and In-Laws" the team must play family counselor to Franks in order to prevent a bloody international conflict.
On the last episode of NCIS, which was also its Halloween episode sans a costume for Abby (Pauley Perrette), some fans thought it was a little letdown procedural- and everything else-wise. The case was that of a prankster who was killed, and somehow Abby's lab was turned into a some sort of dumping ground for all of the victim's prank paraphernalia.

On November 24, Pauley Perrette's Abby packs her bag and heads west.
The NCIS character will crossover to NCIS: Los Angeles. What prompts her visit to the Pacific time zone?
A victim out there matches the profile of a murderer Abby has been tracking. According to the actress herself:
"She pieces together some unsolved crimes in her own way, and she is convinced there's a killer that no one else thinks exists. She has a very specific theory and she goes out to L.A. to try to track down this guy... or girl."
Meanwhile, NCIS: Los Angeles airs a new episode next week. It's titled "Keepin It Real" and it focuses on the death of a marine that was living a double life. Below are a trio of images from it:

We previously reported that NCIS' Abby (Pauley Perrette) is dropping by their Los Angeles counterpart NCIS: La in what some fans think is move to sort of convince more of the original's 20 million average viewers to sample the spin-off, which is by no means doing shabby for a rookie show with some 18 million viewers.
One of the stars of NCIS: Los Angeles said he was not at all surprised with how his show is doing very well in the ratings, and it's all because of the NCIS name.

NCIS' Pauley Perrette and more of TV's biggest stars are banding together for a one-time performance of The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later to benefit the Matthew Shepard Foundation and stand up for gay rights.

The play is a sequel to The Laramie Project, which was based on the reactions of people in Laramie, Wyo., after Shepard, a 21-year-old gay college student, was murdered there in 1998. The new production revisits the townspeople a decade later and also portrays an interview with one of Shepard's killers.
The new play began performances across the country on Oct. 12. Perrette said she was approached by a member of her church, Hollywood United Methodist Church, about putting together a reading of the play there. Pretty soon...

Still not watching NCIS: Los Angeles? As if its ratings aren't awesome enough, CBS looks like it's going to try to further bolster the two NCIS duo's hold of Tuesday night and maybe convince a few converts from the original NCIS camp by sending Abby (Pauley Perrette) to their West Coast counterpart this November, reports Entertainment Weekly.
CBS is still hush-hush over most details of the crossover, but one thing's for sure: it won't be just a phone call this time, and NCIS' dependable lab rat will indeed fly to Los Angeles. But sources said Abby might not exactly have a grand time in La, since someone's going to abduct herThe episode is set to air on November 24.

Circle the date on the calendar. On November 24 -- that's right before Thanksgiving so you might be busy with other stuff -- don't miss NCIS: Los Angeles because Pauley Perrette's Abby will be guesting. She won't just be on a monitoring talking to the folks in L.A.; she'll be in the City of Angels.
Goth Abby in the City of Angels? We knew it was coming. But how oxymoronic. All that sunshine is counter to the dark vibe, although if you ask me, Abby is a walking oxymoron. She's a scientist in love with forensics who is covered in tattoos, has a dog collar as a necklace and likes pigtails.
Anyway, back to the crossover. Michael Ausiello's sources have leaked to him at EW.com that Abby's visit to the Left Coast is a major plot point. Abby is not there by choice; she's been abducted.

The rumors are true: Abby is heading to the west coast.
The character, played by Pauley Perrette, will cross from NCIS (the top-rated show on TV) to its spin-off (the second-highest rated show on TV), NCIS: Los Angeles, next month.
Fans of both dramas are aware that Abby has spoken to to the new team on the phone already this season, but this will be her first time actually appearing on the show. It won't go very smoothly, however: someone will abduct Abby!

Oh my Goth, Abby is going to L.A.! Pauley Perrette’s NCIS lab rat-slash-tattoo enthusiast will cross over (for real) to NCIS: La this November, sources confirm to me exclusively. While Abby has talked to the Left Coast expansion team on the phone, this will be her first time touching down at Lax. Sadly, it looks like it won’t be much of a vacation, as she finds out not everybody in the City of Angels sports a halo. Someone’s going to abduct our dear Abby! Perrette’s La adventure is slated to air Nov. 24. (Additional reporting »

In celebration of the imminent Halloween, "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" employs a story revolving around the festivity. In "Code of Conduct", the NCIS team discover that a Marine known for his practical joke is found dead on the Halloween Eve. They think that the victim's pranks may contribute to ghoulish retribution. Also, Ziva tries to adjust to her new role on the team.
Unlike the original series, "NCIS: Los Angeles" will not pick up a ghostly storyline. Instead, the episode called "Killshot" follows the investigation of a United States citizen of North Korean descent murder. The secrets to classified software are thought to be lost until NCIS uncovers a suspect from Director Vance's past. Through the promo, it is revealed that Pauley Perrette aka Abby in "NCIS" will make a cameo.
The crossover had been revealed even before the shows began their new seasons. Executive Producer Shane Brennan said »

Of course, Ziva (Cote de Pablo) was back, and while it wasn't explicitly made clear if she's back to the NCIS team, we all know it's going in that direction. On this episode, we get the usual murder mystery that involved a cop who was out for revenge - although there was also something going on behind the shadows here.
We realize early on that the rescue mission that took the team to North Africa was only the first step of this thing with Ziva; getting her to be back to NCIS was another matter entirely. Eventually, it's up to Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to decide if Ziva would be back or not. At least she aced Vance's (Rocky Carroll) psych evaluation. But trying to rebuild ties with the McGee (Sean Murray) and Tony (Michael Weatherly) were more complicated. Abby (Pauley Perrette), meanwhile, kind of blasted Ziva since she doubted Tony's motives in shooting Rivkin, »

I have to confess that before last month's Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Los Angeles, I hadn't the faintest idea who Pauley Perrette was. Turns out she's one of the stars of CBS' NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service where she plays Abby Sciuto. The show's a hit and according to my fellow critics, Pauley is fantastic on the show.
But while I was interviewing Survivor's Jeff Probst at the CBS party, I knew nothing about Pauley when she politely interrupted to say hi to Jeff. All I knew then was that she was very striking looking — and was wearing a Legalize Gay t-shirt at a party where everyone else was dressed up in order to impress and promote their own shows.
As soon as I finished interviewing Jeff, I went hunting for Pauley because I really wanted to know more about this person who was so visibly advocating for my rights. »

Chicago – Though CBS is the turtle in selling sexy TV, the network is the hare when it comes to selling a broad audience what they ultimately want. CBS on Monday promised to return to its core of rock-solid dramas and sitcoms and plans to “make a lot of noise,” according to programming chief Nina Tassler.

Tassler told critics on Monday that CBS is “finally at a place where we’ve got the goods”.
After falling flat on its face with some high-risk attempts (such as the musical “Viva Laughlin” and the serialized murder mystery “Harper’s Island”), some of its safer bets will see switched time slots. Top CBS hit “The Mentalist” is moving to Thursdays at 10 p.m. Et/Pt and the new hit comedy “The Big Bang Theory” is moving to Mondays at 9:30 p. »

This post was originally going to be titled “Quick Shots of False Hope,” in both homage to comedienne Laura Kightlinger’s entertaining essay collection, and in acknowledgment that even good TV news amounts to so much dust in the wind when one takes the industry’s 80 percent-plus failure rate into account. But pretty much all of what you’ll read here is good news, or at the very least interesting, so we’ll save the false hope for this week, when the broadcast networks present. Let the good times start a-rolling with…
