The Wicked truth is Idina Menzel wants to be on Glee

5 December 2009 12:02 PM, PST | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

Could it be that the cool show for guest appearances is going to be Glee? It well may be the case after Kristin Chenoweth's musical showstopper last October. Kristin's Tony-award winning costar from Wicked, Idina Menzel, wants to do Glee. How do we know? Her husband, Private Practice's Taye Diggs, confirmed it.

There's more to it than just that. Apparently the Glee fans -- Gleeks -- have noticed the remarkable resemblance between Idina and Lea Michele.

Why, she could be/play Lea's mother! They look alike and they are both big time Broadway belters. We've heard Lea's incredibly rendition of "Defying Gravity," the song that made Idina a star, on Glee, too.

'Glee': Idina Menzel 'would love' to play Rachel's mom

4 December 2009 4:36 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Many "Glee" fans have whispered and speculated about Rachel Berry's family for months.

But we still have never met Rachel's parents -- her gay dads or her biological mom -- but what if when we do meet mommy, she's played by Broadway babe, Idina Menzel?

Seems Menzel, best known for her role as Elphaba in "Wicked," is game.

Menzel's husband, "Private Practice" star Taye Diggs, told Fancast.com this week that he and his wife are admirers of both "Glee" and Lea Michele, who plays the young Ms. Berry. He said he knows Idina "would love" to do the show.

The couple is actually friendly with Lea, who starred on Broadway in "Spring Awakening" during her pre-"Glee" days.

So, yeah, this all seems like a super solid idea.

Are you hearing this, Ryan Murphy? What are your thoughts, Gleeks?

'Private Practice': Desperately seeking Rosanna Arquette

4 December 2009 2:42 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The doctors of "Private Practice" are welcoming a new face -- actress Rosanna Arquette.

ABC has confirmed to Zap2it that Arquette has signed on to guest star on one episode of ABC's "Private Practice." She will be playing the crunchy-granola mother of Dink (Stephen Lunsford), who is currently dating Sam (Taye Diggs) and Naomi's (Audra McDonald) daughter Maya (Geffri Maya Hightower).

Arquette recently guest-starred on another ABC show. She played art maven Greta Noa on "Eastwick," getting all hot and heavy with Darryl Van Horne and ending up bloodied and unconscious. It looks like next week we'll see her in the hospital.

When asked to comment on Arquette's arrival at the Oceanside Wellness group, Dr. Addison Montgomery had this to say:

All I wanna do when I wake up in the morning is see your eyes

Rosanna, Rosanna

I never thought that a girl like you could ever care for me, »

Private Practice Review: "The Parent Trap," "Blowups"

4 December 2009 7:35 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Private Practice aired back-to-back episodes last night, and while one primary story arc - involving Addison's parents - continued throughout, they were very different.

In the first hour, Sam and Naomi's parenting struggles actually brought them closer together, while in the second, Dell's world was turned upside down by Heather.

If you missed "The Parent Trap" and "Blowups," follow the link for our full recaps. Now, a look at the developments of each, and why they worked for us (or didn't):

Part I: Addison and Pete treat a 60-year-old pregnant woman with a 30-year-old husband and work hard to save their at-risk baby, which they do ... at least for now.

This case was a plot device to keep Addison and Pete close after Violet stunned them both by jumping into the sack with The Captain after meeting him for 12 seconds.

Rather than worrying about Pete's feelings, or Addison's (her »

Diggs Upsets Mom With TV Expletive

3 December 2009 2:01 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Taye Diggs upset his mother on TV in America on Wednesday night after using foul language to describe his feelings about people who can't accept his mixed-race marriage to actress Idina Menzel.

The Rent star was quizzed about the hatemail his white wife received after marrying him during an appearance on chat show Lopez Tonight - and he took his comments to the extreme.

He explained, "In the beginning, it rubbed some people the wrong way but, in this day and age, you've just got to say, 'F**k it!'"

Immediately realising he'd sworn on live TV, an embarrassed Diggs said, "My bad. My Bad. My mom's gonna kill me." »

Wicked’s Idina Menzel Would ‘Love’ to Guest Star on Glee

3 December 2009 11:18 AM, PST | People.com - TV Watch | See recent People.com - TV Watch news »

Following a guest stint by her Broadway costar Kristin Chenoweth and Glee club captain Rachel's (Lea Michele) show-stopping rendition of "Defying Gravity" (from the hit musical Wicked), it seems Broadway's original green witch, Idina Menzel, may pay a visit to McKinley High. "I know that she would love [to guest star on Glee]," Menzel's husband, Private Practice star Taye Diggs told Fancast of the Gleek community's desire to see the Tony-winner play the biological mother of Rachel, who is the proud daughter of two gay dads. Adding that Michele -- who originated the role of Wendla in the Broadway play Spring Awakening -- and Menzel are "fans of each other, »

Yes, we know gleeks around the gleekosphere want to see Tony winner Idina Menzel show up on Glee to play Rachel's birth mother, the same one who's the perfect mix of beauty, artistry and intellect her gay dads were looking for. I mean, they look alike! That should be enough reason, right?

Well, the message has been sent, and the Broadway star admits she would love to appear on the show... well, she didn't exactly say it herself. In fact, it was her husband, fellow actor Taye Diggs, who teased the possibility. »

Private Practice Round Table: "The Hard Part"

13 November 2009 1:24 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The most recent installment of Private Practice drew mixed reviews from our staff - as our review of "The Hard Part" made quite clear. Now it's time to explore deeper.

Below, our staff breaks down some of the burning questions from last night's episode our Private Practice Round Table discussion. Here's how our panel saw it ...

1. What was your favorite Private Practice quote from the episode?

The Barnacle: Ooh, tough one. Anything with Pete and Sheldon, but specifically when they passive-aggressively bash the type of medicine the other practices.

Dr. Shepherd: The Addison-Sam exchange of "You're not Naomi" and "You're not Derek." So cheesy, so Shonda. Not sold on them as a couple but love 'em both.

M.L. House: No single line stands out but I thought the woman who played Kara was terrific. I couldn't believe she didn't make it after all of that. So Sad.

2. Addison and Sam: Up or down? »
