Jessica Biel Backs Live Earth, Sprouts ‘LiveEarth TV’ Web Series

4 December 2009 6:03 PM, PST | Tubefilter.tv | See recent Tubefilter News news »

Global environmental outfit Live Earth hit the scene with a bang back in summer of 2007—07/07/07 to be exact—with a worldwide live concert event with more than 150 musical acts in 7 continents. Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas and Jack Johnson all headlined the event that drew awareness for the world's emerging Climate crisis. Now Live Earth is prepping their latest global event—Run for Water with lead sponsor Dow—taking aim on the worldwide water crisis an international (think 192 countries!) series of 6km run/walks (the average distance women and children walk everyday to secure water) with local concerts and water education events on April 18, 2010. To build awareness for the April event, they launched LiveEarth TV today, a hosted web series acting as a hub for all of the celeb-laden build up. Jessica Biel, Pete Wentz, Alexandra Cousteau, Angelique Kidjo and Jenny Fletcher are all attached and took part »

This week's new cinema previews

4 December 2009 4:05 PM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

The Box (12A)

(Richard Kelly, 2009, Us) Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, Frank Langella. 116 mins

Will Kelly ever make another movie as good as Donnie Darko? There are signs here that he might, but he hasn't this time. The Twilight Zone plot – press the button on this box and you'll get $1m, but someone will die – opens up more moral/conspiracy/sci-fi elements than the film can handle. Still, too much is better than not enough, especially when it's as smoothly sinister, visually sophisticated and borderline bonkers as this.

Me And Orson Welles (12A)

(Richard Linklater, 2008, Us/UK) Zac Efron, Claire Danes. 114 mins

Efron graduates from High School backstage to Welles's 1930s theatre troupe in this sweet coming-of-age flick, holding his own against Christian McKay's rakish, bombastic Welles – even when they fall for the same girl.

Cracks (15)

(Jordan Scott, 2009, UK) Eva Green, Juno Temple. 104 mins

Set within the confines of a posh girls' boarding school, »

Pics from Kristen Stewart’s Very Own Special Stripper Movie

3 December 2009 9:22 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

When you think of starlets taking it off for a movie role, you think Jessica Alba b.s.’ing her way through “Sin City” (really, Jessica, a stripper that keeps her clothes on? Get the eff outta here), or Natalie Portman “daring” to take it all off in “Closer”, but, you know, not really doing so. Then you have Jessica Biel, who actually — gasp! — did an honest to goodness strip in “Powder Blue”. The latest starlet to take the stripper movie plunge is “Twilight’s” Kristen Stewart, who apparently got the time between shooting the 50 “Twilight” movies that she’s contracted for to make a little indie flick called “Welcome to the Rileys”, in which Bella takes it off for that fat dude from “The Sopranos”. Okay, I don’t know if she actually takes it off, but she is playing the stripper, and these pics (via ReelLoop) would seem »

Latest Comic Book Adaptation Calls Upon 'The Piper'

2 December 2009 9:29 PM, PST | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

Comic books continue to be snatched up for adaptations, yet the percentage that actual arrive in theaters is bleak. The Hollywood Reporter revealed tonight that Persistent Entertainment, Pantry Films and Zenescope Entertainment are teaming up to produce an adaptation of Zenescope's comic The Piper, which aims to take a dark look at the Pied Piper of Hamelin fable. The story will center on a much-bullied high school band student who unintentionally channels the spirit of the mysterious Pied Piper and triggers terrifying consequences of his actions beyond his control. The project -- brought to Persistent by exec Aaron Cruze, who will shepherd its development -- is out to writers. Headed by Matthew Rhodes, Persisent has produced more than 20 films in its 10 years. Those include Richard Kelly's "Southland Tales" and the upcoming Nailed," starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal. »

Kenna Previews Climb Up Mount Kilimanjaro At The Woodie Awards

2 December 2009 2:35 PM, PST | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

The 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards aren't just about great performances, killer videos and artists who push the boundaries of musical experimentation. (Though there's no shortage of any of that.) The Woodies are also about awareness, service and giving a little bit back. That's why they gave out the Good Woodie, the award that recognizes exceptional commitments to social change. The illustrious nominees included To Write Love on Her Arms founder Jamie Tworkowski, John Legend (for his poverty-combating Show Me campaign), Wyclef Jean (for his Yéle Haiti foundation), Alicia Keys (for the AIDS-in-Africa-focused Keep a Child Alive) and Kenna (for his work with Summit on the Summit).

Though Tworkowski took home the hefty piece of lumber, Kenna's project is certainly intriguing. The multi-talented musician is currently putting together a plan to climb Mount Kilimanjaro — the tallest mountain in Africa — in order to raise awareness for the worldwide water crisis. Mr. Skin's Top 2009

Forget about the National Board of Review or the American Film Institute. The year-end Top 10 list you're really waiting for is here: Mr. Skin's Top 10 Nude Scenes of 2009. As is sometimes the case, I don't really agree with Mr. Skin's choices or at least their placement on the list. How does Jessica Biel get naked in a movie and Not make the #1 spot? I'm also a little disappointed to see so many TV shows taking over spots on the list. How are we letting TV beat us our own game people?... »

Los Angeles — These days, the eyes of Hollywood are upon the "New Moon" stars as they move out of their comfort zones and select non-"Saga" film projects. And few are more intriguing than Taylor Lautner's upcoming movie "Valentine's Day," which has the young heartthrob appearing opposite rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift in a subplot that revolves around them mostly, well, swapping spit.

"They just had to make out," grinned one of their co-stars, Emma Roberts, as she recently remembered a day watching the two young superstars filming the movie. "That's all I saw."

The 27-year-old actress, moreover, shares the best way to deal with the press.
