Is Sean Patrick Flanery at last getting the recognition he deserves? Hopefully with Boondock 2 the guy will be put on the path of more kick-ass movies, like this one here looks to be. Sinners And Saints from rookie director William Kaufman, puts Flanery in the middle of an equally underrated cast including Tom Berenger, Jurgen Prochnow, and Kim Coates. Whole thing is headlined by Johnny Strong in pretty much his first outing since playing Leon in the original Fast And Furious. Story follows... »

A car veers off the road into the dark woods. The passengers, Sophie and Vincent are disoriented, wandering around the forest in search of the road (or help) when they come upon an abandoned house. At first they’re cautious, searching through the house to ensure it’s really empty and when satisfied that they’re alone, they make themselves comfortable for a night out of the rain. Except they’re not alone – someone’s come in and locked the door trapping them inside the room and that someone is watching them through a hole in the wall.
The premise for Miloš J. Kohout’s thriller Eye in the Wall (in some places it’s simply being referred to as The Eye) suggests a promising bit of entertainment but what’s really caught my attention is the cast. The film stars the great Karel Roden as Vincent and Catherine Flemming »

Some people don't like the first Dune by David Lynch, but of course, they're crazy. With a stunning cast like the effortless Kyle MacLachlan, badass Sting, the mysterious Jürgen Prochnow, the black-goop-dripping Kenneth McMillan, the incomparable Linda Hunt as Shadout Mapes…coupled with the as-cool-and-strange-as-it-gets-for-1984 effects, not to mention the storyline itself… come on, it rocks! So when we all heard that Paramount was making another Dune, the two camps thought either "let's get it right this time" or "don't screw it up again!". According to Film Junk, [1] Peter Berg (Hancock, Friday Night Lights) was the first director linked to the project back in 2008. Now it seems he's walked away and in his place is rumoured to be either Neill Blomkamp (District 9) or Neil Marshall (The Descent). District 9 was fresh, tense, funny and tragic with acting by Sharlto Copley that blew my socks off so securing Blomkamp would be sweet. »

"24" is adding more characters to the series and the execs have landed three actors to fit the roles. Rami Malek, Julian Morris and Hrach Titizian are signed for multi-episode arc in the eighth season to play a would-be suicide bomber, a CTU Swat agent and a second-in-command of security respectively.
Malek's Marcos is an Arab American with sympathies toward radical Islam while Titizian's Nabeel is in charge of President Hassan's (Anil Kapoor) safety. Nabeel in particular will work against Mehran (Mido Hamada), the leader of an operative group in an Islamic country who seeks to harm the president. Little is known about Morris' character.
Not only revolving around the Middle Eastern leader and his opponents, the season will also see a ruthless leader by the name Bazhaev (Jurgen Prochnow) who heads an Eastern European organized crime syndicate. Another Russian mobster, Vladimir Laitanan, is played by Callum Keith Rennie.

Welcome to your Tuesday morning television briefing. Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello is reporting that House's Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer's Cameron and Chase will move back into their old jobs on the Fox medical drama following a staffing shakeup at Princeton Plainsboro during which Foreman takes over House's role. "They are both thrown back into their old jobs," Morrison told EW. "It’s been great actually. I have been working a lot and there are things that happen to House very early in the season that have a domino effect on all of the other characters... Cameron was always very close and protective of House. And to have her mentor be away in an asylum makes her contemplate life and career and him. Having him gone affects everyone he works with, personally and professionally." (Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello Files) Another Battlestar Galactica actor is heading to Fox's 24 next season. Today's pick is kind of deep cut, but it's so freaking cool that I had to give it a shout. In 1994, director John Carpenter released a horror flick called "In the Mouth of Madness." If you haven't seen it, you should. Critics didn't love it and, I'll admit, there are some gaping flaws. It nonetheless remains an atmospheric, incredibly creepy scarefest with deep-rooted influences from literary horror genius H.P. Lovecraft.
Sam Neill stars in "Madness" as John Trent, an insurance investigator tasked with looking into the mysterious disappearance of acclaimed horror novelist Sutter Cane (Jurgen Prochnow). Since Cane's disappearance leaves his latest book unfinished, the publisher calls Trent in to find out what happened. The investigation leads Trent to the town of Hobb's End -- a fictional location named in the title of Cane's unfinished book -- where some unusual stuff starts to happen.
Those books comprise the collected works of Sutter Cane. »

Based on the novel by F.paul Wilson, The Keep was first released in 1983 and starred some of today’s most well know classical actors including; Jürgen Prochnow, Ian McKellen and Gabriel Byrne. A major box office flop on its release, it has now gone on to become a firm cult favorite among horror fans and despite countless calls for one, the movie has yet to receive the proper DVD release it deserves. Booo. For more details on the screening, head over to the BFI’s site. »

The summer of 1937 brought the invasion of China by Japan. "By December 13th, they had defeated the Chinese army and invaded the nation's then-capital, Nanking," wrote Kim Voynar in January 2007, by way of introducing her review of the documentary Nanking, which played at Sundance that year. The film is now available for free online viewing, thanks to our friends at SnagFilms.
As you might expect, directors Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman use archival footage and interviews with survivors to flesh out the film, but they also include "staged reading of excerpts from journals and letters by a group of actors including Woody Harrelson, Mariel Hemingway, Rosalind Chao and Jurgen Prochnow," as described by Voynar. She observed: "The scripted reading actually works more effectively than mere voiceover would have, bringing to life the people who were a part of the events that happened in Nanking during that time. War and violence are never pretty, »

Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0 Chicago – One of the biggest movies of the summer is sure to be Ron Howard’s “Angels & Demons,” the sequel to 2006’s massively successful “The Da Vinci Code,” a Tom Hanks film that left most critics cold but ended up making a stunning quarter-of-a-billion dollars worldwide by the time its theatrical run ended. Before you talk to the “Angels & Demons,” catch up on your mythology with “The Da Vinci Code: 2-Disc Extended Cut” on Blu-Ray.
“The Da Vinci Code” may have been one of the best-timed movies in the history of the form. I remember the months leading up to the film’s release and Dan Brown’s books were literally everywhere. You couldn’t ride a Chicago bus without seeing someone reading “Code” or the even-better earlier book, “Angels & Demons”. By the time the movie hit, it was a guaranteed blockbuster.
