23 year old British actor Tom Sturridge offered up what's perhaps one of the best descriptions ever of what it's like to be on a movie with writer/director Richard Curtis (Love Actually) while promoting Curtis' latest comedy film, Pirate Radio: "It's so disgusting to say, but making a Richard Curtis film is like being in a Richard Curtis film. It was a really good summer." Sturridge plays Carl, the youngest man on the boat in Curtis' Pirate Radio, the story of a group of DJs pumping rock and roll to British music lovers deprived of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, and The Who during the 1960s. Carl's a virgin and on this boat filled with rebel rock and roll deejays, helping him lose his virginity becomes a major project. Read More...

Martin Amis's classic novel Money is to be brought to life by the BBC in a new drama starring Jerry Hall. The 1980s exploration of amorality, excess and greed will be televised in a two-part drama following the story of British commercials director John Self, played by Nick Frost, who is thrust into the world of New York movie deals, shark-like agents and impossibly petulant actors. Viewers will see Hall – former wife of Mick Jagger – take on her first substantial TV role. The Texas star will appear alongside Vincent Kartheiser of Mad Men and Little Dorrit's Emma Pierson as Self's girlfriend Selina.

In 1966, arguably British pop music's finest era, the BBC played only two hours of rock n' roll every week but pirate radio blasted rock and pop from the high seas twenty-four hours a day and twenty-five million people, more than half the population of Britain, listened to these broadcasts every single day. Pirate Radio, opening in theaters everywhere on November 13th, is the latest film from Richard Curtis, the acclaimed director of Notting Hill and Love Actually, and chronicles these pioneers and the music that inspired a generation. The film stars Oscar winner Phillip Seymour Hoffman and an all-star cast of British actors that includes Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Rhys Darby, Nick Frost, Jack Davenport and Kenneth Branagh. We had an opportunity to travel to London a few weeks ago and speak with Bill Nighy, Nick Frost and the films young stars Tom Sturridge and Talulah Riley about the new »

Adam Lambert is still a couple of weeks away from releasing his major-label debut, For Your Entertainment, but already he's considering other career options. In fact, Lambert would love to go back to Hollywood. But this time instead of competing on the "American Idol" stage, he would love to see his face on the silver screen.
"[Acting] is something that I've done a lot over the past eight or 10 years," he told the Philippine Daily Inquirer. "If the opportunity came up and it was the right thing, I would love to be a part of a film. Right now, I am going to try to work on the album first. One thing at a time."

The Rolling Stones have never exactly been generous with the extras on their reissues. That goes both for the albums they own the rights to (from 1971’s Sticky Fingers forward) and the titanic ’60s catalog controlled by Abkco. And it goes quadruple for Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!, a four-disc expansion of the band’s most celebrated live album, recorded at New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 27 and 28, 1969. The original LP is abetted by a disc of—count ’em—just five unreleased cuts totaling 18 and a half minutes, which would have all fit ... »

Now that most of us acquire our music online these days, radio DJs don't have the same sway as taste-makers that they used to. But in the '70s, the final word in rock music was Rodney Bigenheimer. In George Hickenlooper's 2003 documentary about the infamous DJ and rock music icon, Mayor of Sunset Strip, we are shown Bigenheimer as an awkward and strange little fellow who, in the end, did it all for the music. Now, thanks to the nice folks at SlashControl you can now watch the documentary as one of their collection of (pretty awesome) free movies.
You wouldn't know it to look at him, but Bigenheimer was one of the biggest names in the rock music scene, and was credited with helping to break bands like The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Nirvana, and even Coldplay. Bigenheimer has been relegated to the 'graveyard shift' these days at Kroq, »

A few months ago, there was a bit of a flap over the use of Kurt Cobain's likeness in the video game "Guitar Hero 5." Specifically, fans, former bandmates and Courtney Love were all bothered by the fact that you could manipulate the game to make the Nirvana frontman's avatar sing songs by Bon Jovi and Bush. The just-released "Band Hero" has come under similar fire, this time from Gwen Stefani and No Doubt. The band's virtual selves are included in the game, and just as with Cobain, players can program Stefani's character to sing songs that don't belong to No Doubt. And once again, the problem the band has is with the types of material that can be put into Stefani's mouth.
The song in question? The Rolling Stones' 1969 hit "Honky Tonk Women." The formal complaint filed by the band states, "While No Doubt are avid fans of »
