Co-written by Agnieszka and Paul Vosloo, the story chronicles a young woman (Ricci) in a transitional state between life and death who fights to avoid being buried alive and the funeral director (Neeson) who holds her fate in his hands. Next year will see the release of the Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer production of Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time. Based on the popular videogame and starring Jake Gyllenhaal sporting a British accent, Disney has huge hopes for this adaptation. Could it be as lucrative as the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise?
After watching the three new trailers (two international and one Us) I am still in two minds about this one. While it looks very expensive I can’t help but find Gyllenhaal just slightly miscast.
The story will loosely follow the plot of one of the later games in the series as our hero finds a dagger that gives him the ability to turn back time with magic sand. He must get it back to its rightful owners before the evil Ben Kinglsey uses it to destroy the world.
Directed by Mike Newell the film has Jake and »

Jake Gyllenhaal puts on his sexy face in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Photo: Walt Disney Pictures I'm not much of a gamer, and that may in fact be an understatement considering in the last few years the only games I have played and finished are "Gears of War," "Burnout," "Uncharted," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and just a couple of days ago "Uncharted 2." I don't know where that places me in the gamer revolution, but considering that's about 6 years of gaming outside of playing a little "Tiger Woods," "NBA Street" and "Hot Shots Golf" I would say I am on the outside looking in. However, I'd like to think I know enough to at least open up a discussion concerning the growing trend of adapting video games into feature films, primarily based on the recently released trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a film »

Last week I was invited down to Santa Monica to the offices of Jerry Bruckheimer Films to check out the brand new trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which is set for a release date of May 28, 2010 ( to watch both the domestic and international trailer for the film). Of course, we weren't invited all the way down to the west side just to watch a trailer before anyone else, we got to talk to two of the men responsible for bringing this film to the big screen. Jordan Mechner created the original video game in 1989 and also the more recent games from Ubisoft (which serve as more of a basis of the film than the original game, as he will explain), and he also wrote the original drafts of the script and serves as the executive producer. Mechner was also responsible for getting his video game to Jerry Bruckheimer, »

Fans of big-trousered running-up-walls rejoice! We have the first promo clip for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, directed by Mike Newell and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina.Oddly, the opening shot of Jake's Prince Dastan jumping from a tower seems to be completely lifted from rival videogame franchise Assassin's Creed, but the rest is pretty recognisable from Jordan Mechner's own series, with some fun-looking nods to the sliding and the jumping and the swinging and the fighting. The Dagger of Time looks good too. There's an obvious Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-Goes-East tone to the proceedings, what with it coming courtesy of Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer. If this becomes a franchise and follows the games faithfully, Jake will become a badass goth for no apparent reason in part 2, and then start switching between "dark" and "light" personas in part 3. And he'll be replaced in part 4, which »
