Dr John Stanley Hodgins, better known as Jack, is the Jeffersonian's self titled "bug and slime guy". He holds three advanced degrees in entomology, botany and mineralogy.
He is the sole heir to the Cantilever group, the third largest private corporation in the USA. As such, he is one of the Jeffersonian's biggest donors, but prefers that knowledge be kept quiet and he never uses it to his advantage. He is a rampant conspiracy theorist, weaving tales of government coverups.
He is engaged to fellow Squint Angela Montenegro. Their first attempt at a wedding aborted when they found out Angela's quickie marriage in Fiji years ago on a drunken vacation was actually legal. The two have tracked her husband so she can divorce and remarry Hodgins, but they are having more trouble convincing said husband to agree to a divorce than expected.
An older brother figure to Zack, nuisance but friend to Booth and a valued colleague and friend to Brennan, Hodgins provides a necessary foil to many of the other characters. He fights with Zack to be "King of the Lab", undertaking many bizarre and often ill advised experiments. He is ridiculously intelligent.
