Bohemian and expressive Angela Pearly Gates Montenegro is the Jeffersonian's resident forensic artist. She considers herself first and foremost an artist, and works in Brennan's team creating facial reconstructions. She also invented the Angelator - a holographic device used to create 3D images of the people being reconstructed, as well as allowing replays of various scenarios of how the bones ended up in the lab. Although her actual qualifications are uncertain, it appears she had a minor in Psychology. She is adept at computer programming and uses intuition in equal measure to her artistic computer skills.
The most sensitive, open and intuitive member of the squint squad, Angela provides much needed emotional support to the rest of the gang. She lives a big life, and inspires the somewhat reticent Dr. Brennan to get out of the lab and discover the world for herself. She sees people where others see merely bones and victims. This empathy rubs off continually on her friends and colleagues. Booth uses her on many occasions to connect with victim's families and sometimes suspects.
However, there are deep and complex issues within Angela. Finding herself hurt in the past she is unable to commit to personal relationships for a long time. She eventually falls for Dr Jack Hodgins, the Jeffersonian's Bug and Slime guy and he wins her promised betrothal by relaxing any pressure on her to marry him. Having married another man on a beach in Fiji on a wild vacation years before, she is trying to track down said husband to divorce him so she can marry Hodgins.
ETA : Angela has since let her problems with commitment break up her relationship with Hodgins after securing the divorce and restarted with a relationship with Roxy, a woman with who she had a relationship with in college and whose heart she then broke.Unless Angela is willing to go whole heartedly into this new relationship, then it will definitely end the way it did before , with Roxy brokenhearted and Angela quickly moving on with no after effects. If, however, she does change from her previous behavior than she will be a better person for it.
Angela has stated six weeks is the longest she has gone without sex and she appears to not be broken up about the end of her relationship with Hodgins. Which seems to indicate Hodgins was much more deeply involved in the relationship than Angela was.
Angela changed her name after a dream, though her original name remains unknown.
Angela's father is a famous musician, a fact Angela tries to keep relatively secret. This famous musician belongs to the group ZZ Top.
