Locations Submission Guide

The web interface provides a very easy to use and convenient interface to the IMDb additions system. Please click the button labelled "Update" near the bottom of every IMDb name/title page to access that interface. This page describes how to update locations information directly via e-mail; it also provides an explanation for the formats generated by the web updates system.

We recommend all contributors use the web based update system and avoid the complexities of the direct email interface described below.

Keyword summary:

LOCATION

for adding new locations (and deleting old ones)

COMMENT-LOCATION

for making comments about the data without requesting any corrections.

CORRECT-LOCATION

for requesting corrections to be made to the locations data

Formatting submissions: The basic syntax is..

Please use the current names of locations. Avoid translating names to modern equivalents if you're not 100% sure that translated name is 100% correct, e.g. if the film credits say Czechoslovakia, please don't change it to Czech Republic unless you know no filming took place in Slovakia.

This list is for filming locations i.e. where the filming took place and not necessarily the location portrayed in the movie - so DON'T add things like.. Total Recall (1990)|Mars

Studio names/locations don't belong in this list. See the business list for those.

Corrections

Send corrections to the movie database server along with your other submissions. The mail server will understand the keyword CORRECT-LOCATION as a free-format correction submission

The above uses of LOCATION and CORRECT-LOCATION are equivalent. The former is the prefered format.
